Mount Rainier is one of the best birding spots in the Cascades, and August is a good month for it. Gray jays, hummingbirds, and if you're lucky, a golden eagle riding the thermals above the peak.

Bring your binoculars.

August weather here changes by the hour and by the elevation. Pack smart and you'll barely notice.

3 things our team never leaves the lodge without:
1.A layered jacket, mornings are cold, afternoons aren't.
2.A reusable water bottle, elevation dries you out faster than you'd think.
3.Sunscreen and sunglasses, the sun hits different above the treeline.

Save this before your trip.
