Today is World Hunger Day 💚

This year’s message — “The End of Hunger is in Our Hands” — reflects the work happening every day at Food Connection. Hunger is about more than food scarcity. Rising costs, transportation barriers, and limited access to nutritious meals impact families across our community every day.

That’s why we rescue surplus prepared food and turn it into ready-to-heat meals for neighbors who need them most. 🍽️

Thank you to our volunteers, food donors, nonprofit partners, and supporters for helping us reduce waste, nourish our community, and make a difference together. ✨

Hello, friends! We have had a wonderful first two weeks partnering with .meals ❤️ We gave out about 180 free meals in just two weeks! Because of the demand for these meals, we have to switch up our offering. Logistically, the Fried Chicken Sandwiches as our Bridge Meal offering has presented many challenges we just can’t work around. Basically, it’s jamming us up. So, we are moving on to this tasty Ham and Cheese wrap! We will switch up the meals as time goes on. These free meals are for anyone in need. ❤️ Bridge Meals (check it out .meals) is 100% community funded. If you can donate to help us keep this going, please do! If you need a meal, please come get one. We will continue to offer bagged lunches for kids as well. Much love ❤️

We are just a week away from our second Plates with a Purpose dinner and we have some tickets still available. The purpose of this dinner is to bring together some folks to dine well in community and also to support the Free Fridges in Asheville. The fridges are filled by volunteers and provide food for those who need it without any judgement, monitoring, or rules. SHK is a regular contributor to these fridges, and we love to support them whenever we can. There’s a great need! Want to learn more? Come see us at Ivory Road, May 31. Link to tickets below!
