Friends, today we come to you with a personal plea.
Josh's soul dog,a 13 year old corgi named Dodger, has been struggling with what we thought were recurring impacted a**l glands, and has been seen at the vet multiple times over the last 6 weeks.
Yesterday, we took him back again as his condition had flared up, and during the course of the exam we discovered a large mass in his ear. This was not there at all just a few weeks ago.
We are concerned one or both of these issues may be cancerous.
The mass in his ear needs removed immediately, especially considering how suddenly it appeared and how large it has gotten in such a short time. While he is sedated for surgery, they will also biopsy his abscess sites to rule out anything serious there, as well.
I have not posted about him previously since he is not a "rescue dog", but it's been an ongoing struggle. We did not have the funds for yesterday's $178 vet bill, his new food, and meds. We don't use rescue funds for our personal animals, and are already financially stretched to the breaking point, so this is coming directly out of our utility bill money.
Being a personal animal, we are not able to be invoiced and make payments, the full cost must be paid at time of service. I am faced with a harsh truth.
We cannot afford this surgery.
We cannot afford to help him.
At least not alone.
We don't qualify for care credit or scratch pay, and I've maxed out our cherry line of credit. We are out of options, and the longer we delay the larger the mass will grow and the more likelihood there will be other complications.
So I come to you, our friends and followers, asking for help. Not for a new stray, but for our first stray saved. He's given us over 8 years of his life, it's our responsibility to give him the best chance for many more.
If you would like to help us cover the cost of Dodger's surgery, please do not send donations to the rescue accounts. Donations can be sent to us below:
