Due to some recent comments, I feel the need to clarify our purpose.

We are not like some other rescues. We don't try to get the small dogs, the puppies, the "cute" ones. We don't seek out dogs that are already adoption ready. We honestly don't "seek out" dogs at all. Most of our dogs were foundlings in terrible conditions that were brought to us because there was nowhere else for them to go πŸ˜”

We take on the difficult ones, the ones with behavioral or medical needs, the ones most other rescues don't want because they aren't - and may never be - adoptable. Every one of our dogs is brought in with the knowledge that they will be with us long term.

In fact, we are so committed to these animals that we are moving away from the 'rescue' title and leaning more into a 'sanctuary' role.

Most of our dogs have experienced significant trauma at the hands of humans. There is a reason they are what they are, and none of them are BAD dogs. We know our animals, take the time to learn their triggers, and use a combination of training, medication, and other tools like muzzles to manage their mental and physical needs.

That being said. Behavioral euthanasia has a time and a purpose. If an animal is unable to be controlled, other methods of treatment don't work, or they are an immediate danger to humans, I do believe b.e. is valid. That's just not the situation here.

Not everyone will agree with this. And that's ok.

What's not ok is coming here and making negative comments on our posts. You don't have to like or follow or support us, but there is enough negativity in the world already. Don't come at us like we're the reason the rescue world is falling apart.

For everyone who does follow us, thank you. Your support allows us to continue to help more animals, and to grow our dream to someday have a full sanctuary and rescue facility. We can't wait to share our future with you.

To counteract the Debbie Downers, please comment below with something funny your pet has done that made you laugh! Ours is how miss Stella sits! πŸ˜‚

There are 2 dogs currently at the shelter that we would like to pull. They are part of the 500 animal seizure case that has been all over the news. One has a potential adopter interested.

We have the physical space. 🏠
What we don't have is funds. πŸ’΅

Donations have been an all time low, and with our own animals health issues we don't have the means to cover any of their costs on our own πŸ˜” Assuming neither are heartworm positive, and there aren't any additional underlying health issues, it will cost about $250/dog in initial vetting and healthcare. This number can always go up.

Do we have the support to help one or both of them? πŸ™πŸ»πŸ©΅ Please comment here if you are able to make a pledge towards these boys. If we do pull them, I will update with payment links to fulfill your pledges.

Friends, today we come to you with a personal plea.

Josh's soul dog,a 13 year old corgi named Dodger, has been struggling with what we thought were recurring impacted a**l glands, and has been seen at the vet multiple times over the last 6 weeks.

Yesterday, we took him back again as his condition had flared up, and during the course of the exam we discovered a large mass in his ear. This was not there at all just a few weeks ago.

We are concerned one or both of these issues may be cancerous.

The mass in his ear needs removed immediately, especially considering how suddenly it appeared and how large it has gotten in such a short time. While he is sedated for surgery, they will also biopsy his abscess sites to rule out anything serious there, as well.

I have not posted about him previously since he is not a "rescue dog", but it's been an ongoing struggle. We did not have the funds for yesterday's $178 vet bill, his new food, and meds. We don't use rescue funds for our personal animals, and are already financially stretched to the breaking point, so this is coming directly out of our utility bill money.

Being a personal animal, we are not able to be invoiced and make payments, the full cost must be paid at time of service. I am faced with a harsh truth.

We cannot afford this surgery.
We cannot afford to help him.
At least not alone.

We don't qualify for care credit or scratch pay, and I've maxed out our cherry line of credit. We are out of options, and the longer we delay the larger the mass will grow and the more likelihood there will be other complications.

So I come to you, our friends and followers, asking for help. Not for a new stray, but for our first stray saved. He's given us over 8 years of his life, it's our responsibility to give him the best chance for many more.

If you would like to help us cover the cost of Dodger's surgery, please do not send donations to the rescue accounts. Donations can be sent to us below:

Stella is out of heat and ready for her spay and vetting! πŸŽ‰ We have her scheduled for next Thursday, so in 1 week. It will cost about $200 for everything she needs (heartworm test isn't shown here).

We would love to be able to help her family out with some of the cost. I know they love and miss her dearly. We want her to be all healed up and healthy in time to reunite with her momma!

I don't talk about her much bc Stella is a temporary foster. Her mom is in a program to which she cannot bring Stella, so her grandma reached out to us and we agreed to help. We initially had a foster lined up, but they backed out, so she's been hanging out here 🩡

Kittens update.

Unfortunately this is more of a lack of update. We have been unable to reach the finder all day. The initial plan was to get them to our vet first thing this morning, but they never arrived and we've not received any response πŸ˜”

If you made a donation and would like to be refunded please let me know. Otherwise it will go either to ongoing medical funds, or to the kittens if we do hear back.

These 2 tiny kittens were found under a barn on a work site. Both are malnourished and have severe eye infections. One appears to be ruptured. We can get them to our vet at 8am but we HAVE to have funds to do so! If you were waiting for the right cause, this is it! Help us save these 2 little lives πŸ™πŸΌπŸ©΅πŸ˜πŸˆ
