Mike and Pam Dennis, and their two young boys, migrated from Anchorage, Alaska to Arroyo Grande, CA, in 1988 and opened the first Klondike in the Village of Arroyo Grande. The original name back then was Klondike Cafe. The Santa Maria location opened in 1996, and that's when they changed the name to Klondike Pizza.

For my friends who live in the path of all the crazy weather happening—or predicted to come—I thought you might want to know about a product called Quick Dam.

My son has used these flood barriers at his house to keep water from coming in through his back door, and he says they really work. Another bonus is that they can be reused for several years if you properly dry them out and store them.

They come in various sizes, and I now have them stationed at all my entrances, still in their packages and tucked inside plastic bags just in case the packaging isn’t completely waterproof. Hopefully, I’ll never have to open them!

But with El Niño and predictions of a very wet winter, I’d rather be prepared than scrambling at the last minute—both at home and at our two restaurants.

Just thought I’d pass this along in case it helps someone else prepare, too. Stay safe and dry!

FYI: I’m not affiliated with this company. I bought mine on Amazon.
