The color of w**e comes from three main things:
• The skins of the grapes
• How long the juice stays in contact with those skins
• How the w**e ages over time

✨ Fun Fact:
Most grape juice is actually clear, even the juice from dark-colored grapes!

The pigments that give w**e its color are found in the grape skins, not the juice itself.

When grapes are crushed, w**emakers decide how long the juice remains in contact with the skins:
🍷 Longer contact = deeper red w**es
🌸 Brief contact = rosé
🥂 Little to no skin contact = white w**e

A simple decision in the w**ery creates the incredible spectrum of colors you see in your glass. Cheers!

W**es You Should Know | Part III • Assyrtiko 🇬🇷

Meet one of Greece’s most iconic white w**es.

From the volcanic soils of Santorini, Assyrtiko is famous for doing something remarkable: even under the hot Mediterranean sun, it holds onto its vibrant acidity, producing w**es that are crisp, refreshing, and beautifully mineral-driven.

Something super unique? To protect the grapes from the strong Aegean winds and intense Mediterranean sun, growers weave the vines into low, basket-shaped coils called “kouloura”, a centuries-old technique found almost nowhere else in the world.

If you’re looking for a white w**e that shines alongside seafood, fresh Mediterranean flavors, or simply a warm summer evening, Assyrtiko is a must-try.
