Staying hydrated is important for maintaining overall health and well-being. Here are some tips to help you stay hydrated:

1. Drink enough water: The most obvious tip is to drink an adequate amount of water throughout the day. The general recommendation is to drink at least 8 cups (64 ounces) of water daily. However, individual needs may vary based on factors such as age, activity level, and climate.

2. Keep a water bottle handy: Carry a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. This serves as a visual reminder to drink water and makes it convenient to hydrate yourself throughout the day.

3. Set reminders: If you often forget to drink water, you can set reminders on your phone or use hydration tracking apps to notify you at regular intervals.

4. Drink before you're thirsty: Thirst is not always an accurate indicator of hydration. It's better to drink water before you feel thirsty to ensure you're staying properly hydrated.

5. Eat water-rich foods: Many fruits and vegetables have high water content and can contribute to your overall hydration. Include foods like watermelon, cucumbers, strawberries, oranges, and lettuce in your diet.

6. Limit dehydrating beverages: Certain beverages like caffeinated drinks (coffee, tea, energy drinks) and alcoholic beverages can have a diuretic effect, causing increased urination and potential dehydration. Limit your intake of these drinks and balance them with sufficient water consumption.

7. Drink water with meals: Make it a habit to drink water with your meals. Not only does it aid digestion, but it also ensures you're getting some hydration during your regular eating times.

8. Monitor urine color: The color of your urine can be an indicator of hydration levels. Aim for a pale, light yellow color, which indicates proper hydration. Dark yellow or amber-colored urine may indicate dehydration.

9. Hydrate during physical activity: When engaging in exercise or physical activity, drink water before, during, and after to replenish the fluids lost through sweat.

10. Be mindful of your environment: In hot and humid weather or in high-altitude conditions, your body may require more water to stay hydrated. Take extra precautions and increase your fluid intake accordingly.

Remember that these tips are general guidelines, and individual hydration needs can vary. It's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional if you have specific concerns about hydration or if you have any underlying health conditions.

It's Peripartum Cardiomyopathy Awareness Week in Texas!!!❤

Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is an often unrecognized and misdiagnosed form of heart failure induced by pregnancy and up to 12 months postpartum.

A BNP test is recommended for moms with High blood pressure, Preeclampsia, Multiple births, Heart murmur, Hyperemesis gravidarum, Fertility treatments, or Family history of heart disease.

This is a life saving 25 minute service:

1. Mom is greeted by our FNP & Doula

2. Mom is asked basic information and vitals will be checked

3. Mom will be given a PPCM screening questioner

4. FNP will order a blood draw after a physical examination

5. Our phlebotomist will take a quick sample and have it shipped to lab. (24hrs to 1 week wait)

LetsTalkPPCM offers free BNP blood tests and postpartum exams for moms who develop risk factors for Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM).

We are so excited to celebrate our first annual PPCM awareness event May 14, 2022!

We thank for understanding the importance of bringing attention to such a dreadful disease in pregnancy and postpartum mothers.
