In partnership with with Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department, we are hosting free lead testing for children ages 1 to 5 at Arapahoe Pharmacy and Fountain.

The first session is WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1ST from 10am to 1pm. Walk-ins are welcome!

The next session will be Wednesday, October 15th.

We are alarmed over recent claims of harm from acetaminophen. As your trusted medication experts, we affirm there has been no new evidence in two decades that the use of acetaminophen in pregnancy causes autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability. The most reputable studies—including one published last year—found no significant associations.

As stated by FDA, at usual doses for treating fever in pregnancy, acetaminophen remains safe and effective. The occurrence of untreated fever in pregnancy has far more serious adverse implications for the fetus. Acetaminophen is the only FDA-approved medication known to be safe and effective at usual doses in people who are pregnant. This has not changed.

While it is appropriate to continuously monitor drug safety signals and review emerging research, claims that are not rooted in science are confusing to patients and health care providers who are caring for and counseling patients during pregnancy.

You rely on us to make recommendations and ensure safety in the use of products to treat minor, self-limiting illnesses with nonprescription drugs, including acetaminophen. Based on the current literature, acetaminophen remains a safe option for people who are pregnant when used appropriately.

To clarify some questions on COVID vaccine for this fall at Marks Pharmacy and Arapahoe Pharmacy.

We have the vaccine available for anyone age 65 and over.

We have the vaccine available for anyone under age 65 who is a high risk medical condition (like diabetes, respiratory disease, obesity, you are immunocompromised or have a medical condition that puts you at higher risk of COVID infection.)

We have vaccine available if you have a high risk occupation.

We have vaccine available if you live with or care for someone described above.

COVID vaccines provide the strongest protection available against severe infection and death, even if people still become infected. People remain at risk of infection even after contracting the virus once, because it continues to evolve.

CDC data released in June shows the virus resulted in 32,000 to 51,000 US deaths and more than 250,000 hospitalizations last fall and winter. Most at risk for hospitalization are unvaccinated seniors and young children.
