SBSO INVESTIGATING THEFT IN ARABI

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at a business in Arabi and is asking for the public’s assistance, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau were notified of a business burglary that occurred sometime in the previous week in the 7200 block of North Peters Street.

During the course of the investigation, detectives determined a painting valued at $7,500 was stolen from the location. The artwork, titled “Dueling Oak New Orleans City Park,” took a local artist more than a year to complete.

Detectives also discovered multiple areas of the building had been recently defaced with graffiti and believe it may be connected to the theft.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the painting or any information related to this incident is asked to contact the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501, the Criminal Investigations Bureau tip hotline at (504) 271-TIPS (8477), or Crimestoppers GNO at (504) 822-1111. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward through Crimestoppers.
