Weā€™ve had some special moments at The Open Mic, and this was a recent one.

We recommended Queens Caribbean Kitchen, a local spot just down the street that we visit often. A woman from Trinidad stopped back in while we were serving a line of customers just to tell us how much she loved the food. Soon everyone in line was asking, ā€œWhereā€™s Queens?ā€

If you havenā€™t tried it yet, Queens is open Wednesday through Saturday, 2ā€“7 PM. Itā€™s worth the short walk down Main Street.

Queens will also be part of the Village of Antiochā€™s W**e Walk this Saturday, September 26, from noon to 4 PM. Tickets are limited, so register soon (https://www.antioch.il.gov/W**eWalk) if youā€™d like to spend the afternoon exploring downtownā€™s restaurants and shops.

We have one remaining scheduled slot during the W**e Walk segment of the Prairie Waters Music & Arts Festival this Saturday: 1:30ā€“2:00 PM.

If youā€™d like to perform and promote your set ahead of time, get in touch now! There may also be room for a song or two between acts, depending on the scheduled performers and how the day unfolds.

If the half-hour slot stays open, we may use it for an impromptu open mic. Either way, stop by and bring your guitarā€”or use one of ours. No need to bring a piano; weā€™ve got you covered on that! ;)

Jonny stopped by last Saturday and blew us away with his renditions of Elvis and Johnny Cash songs. As it happens, heā€™ll be playing right before Elvis Cash!

Heā€™s from Ohio, stationed out here now, and working on building a following and booking gigs. His acoustic set has a little of everything: country, rock, blues, pop, and originals.

Elvis Cash is joining us at Open Mic for the Prairie Waters Music and Arts Festival during the Village W**e Walk this Saturday, from 3:30 to 4:00 PM!

Heā€™s known for his Johnny Cash tribute shows, but he plays a lot more than Cash. Weā€™ve heard some great Grateful Dead and other covers from him, and heā€™s been part of our songwriter workshop here at Open Mic. Heā€™s a really nice guy, and weā€™re glad to have him on the schedule. Stop in and hear him play!

If the interest keeps coming like it has, we might even expand this into an all-day event.
