JUICY IS BACK. ORIJIN HAS ARRIVED.

Opening, reopening, and keeping a business running in Ann Arbor is no small feat. Behind every scratch-made meal, beautiful pastry, and experience that feels seamless and joyful is a crew of humans working extremely hard.

This week, we’re celebrating two partners we feel very lucky to work with:

After a fire shuttered their doors for ten long months, beloved Ann Arbor institution Juicy Kitchen is back, serving the from-scratch food its very hungry supporters have been missing.

And say hello to Orijin, where Sava and the Boro’s baker, Jin, have joined forces to bring some of the most spectacular pastries and baked goods we’ve ever tasted to downtown Ann Arbor. We’ve supplied coffee to Sava’s Ann Arbor business empire for a long time, and we’re thrilled to be along for this delicious next chapter.

We just roasted something very different from our usual: a honey-processed, medium-roast small batch from Vietnam’s Central Highlands.

In the cup, expect toasty sweetness and notes of hazelnut, honeycomb, crème brûlée, brown sugar, and dark caramel.

Straightforward and satisfying, it highlights the distinctive nature of Vietnamese-grown coffee while offering plenty of depth and caffeine kick.

Sourced by our friends at Crop to Cup, this coffee comes from a new generation of producers bringing greater care and intention to green coffee cultivation and processing. We’re excited to share it with you! (Pro tip: if you’re in the cafes, ask for it as a long pull!)

We’re home and we’re away.

It’s that late-summer feeling of trying to squeeze in one last adventure, but quiet, beautiful Ann Arbor is too good to leave.

You have to BE HERE NOW. Catch Sonic Lunch on Thursday, bike down Main Street on Sunday morning, make it to three birthday parties, and drink outside at Spencer, Bill’s, and Sava’s.

But you also have to GO. Touch Lake Michigan (for the first time?!). Road trip to Vermont, live on a boat, hike the Rocky Mountains. Go bead hunting in Albania!

The annual Ann Arbor late summer shuffle is right around the corner: students coming back, students heading out, and all of us trying to be in two places at once.

Home? Away? Both? Just make sure you have some RoosRoast in your bag, like we always do, and figure it out from the road.

Ann Arbor Art Fair thought experiment: selling out. The dream is to sell out. The fear is to sell out. Discuss.

Good selling out: you sell every piece, pack up lighter, and maybe escape before a thunderstorm pops up directly over your tent.

Bad selling out: complicated, existential, probably not the main issue while you’re standing there explaining your work to strangers asking if it comes in blue. Or if you can paint something that goes with their new couch.

We love artists, art buyers, and art gawkers. We love delightful random encounters that happen when you jam thousands of people into one space. We love townies hiding from all of the above. Both cafes are open 7–5 every day of Art Fair. If you’ve braved the trip downtown, treat yourself to a caffeine boost at Liberty. Rosewood is your refuge if you prefer to observe the human river from a safe distance.

Stay caffeinated (cold brew shots, anyone?!). Sell out if you can!

At RoosRoast, reading is our kind of summer sport. Our staff are active, enthusiastic readers (ok we’ll even call some of them nerds, in the best possible way!). Stop by Liberty to check out our little free library. Take a book, leave a book, tell us what you’re reading.

We’re also excited to be participating in the super popular Ann Arbor District Library Summer Game, where RoosRoast coffee is featured in the prize gift shop. Have you found our code yet?! Grab a book, head to the glorious Rosewood lawn, and come see us in real life!

Both RoosRoast cafes and our farmers market stand are closed tomorrow for the Fourth of July. We hope you find a lake and jump in it!

Dads love the outdoors. Maybe yours is a fishing dad, a biking dad, a golf dad, a camping dad — or a tinkering-in-the-garage, water-sports-enthusiast dad.
