It was born of John Roos’ mind and person, but now it’s all of us – you reading these words, the good people who work here, the coffee farmers and each and every funny encounter we have over a cup of coffee. We still are a warehouse full of babes roasting, drinking, and bagging coffee beans.

Two new single origins are here: Kenya Muranga Peaberry and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe

Kenya Muranga Peaberry - we love a peaberry! Instead of developing as two flat-sided beans inside the coffee cherry, a peaberry grows as a single round bean, making up only about 5% of a typical coffee harvest. This Kenya Peaberry brings notes of white peach, rhubarb pie, and macadamia nut for a cup that’s balanced, bright, and sweet.

Our Ethiopia Yirgacheffe is a natural-process coffee with notes of berry tart, plum jam, and malted milk balls. Grown by Hirbe Gasha (see last picture!), a generational farmer who exports his coffee directly, this bold, fruit-forward coffee is an incredible find for RoosRoast.

Rosewood feeling fresh. New signage - who dis?

New sign hand-painted by John. This is the first time since 2009 that we’ve touched our OG RoosRoast sign. (Love you forever, Harve’s. P.S. We still call this part of our building Harve’s.)

See you all on the Rosewood lawn, drinking iced HVLs and cold brew!

Hi! If you’re on the hunt for a ridiculously refreshing, slightly tart, slightly sweet, absolutely perfect afternoon drink—we’ve got you. The Pink Palmer & Lavender Lemonade!

Available for the spring and summer at both cafes. The Pink Palmer is made with our raspberry elderflower rose herbal tea then mixed with lemonade and poured over ice. The Lavender Lemonade is housemade lavender extract then mixed with lemonade and poured over ice. Refreshed!

Come sip your pink drinks in the sunshine—maybe on the Rosewood lawn, surrounded by flowers and other lovely locals doing the same.

Even if your mother is not Betty Roos, and only two people can claim that fame, you probably have a mothering person in your life. Maybe it’s your mom, your childhood teacher, your sister, your aunt, your ride-or-die best friend, or the person who always knows when you need a snack and a reality check.

It’s Mother’s Day, so yes: call your mom, she misses you. Then celebrate all the people who mother you: the ones who know your history, love you through the mess, and keep life interesting in all the best and most complicated ways. Bring them flowers from the market, take a bike ride, share a coffee, send the text, make the call, tell them you love and appreciate them. Even if they don’t drink RoosRoast. We can work on that together.

And thank you, mothering people. We see you, we need you, we love you!

At RoosRoast, we try to embrace change (and chaos, on occasion) with creativity. So welcome to Ann Arbor’s favorite unofficial season: construction season. The streets out front of Liberty are closed, but we are very much O-P-E-N.

Channel your inner urban adventurer and head downtown for a front row seat to the digging and jackhammering, AND for the lobster butter love, burritos, HVLs, cold brew, and handpicked soundtrack that all deserve nicer surroundings than this. Hang with our baristas for a bit and you’ll forget there’s a whole live immersive percussion performance happening outside.

Not feeling the jackhammer slalom? Fuel up and support your local food system at the farmers market on Wednesday and Saturday. Or swing by Rosewood for easy parking, 100% less construction debris, and a lawn that feels more like summer every day.

Whichever adventure path you choose, we can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Thanks for drinking RoosRoast!

Ann Arbor’s Wednesday Market is back & starting tomorrow!

Midweek local produce and chaotic caffeine energy—two of our favorite things. It’s like Saturday, but with fewer people and slightly more existential dread. The RoosCrew will be slinging coffee and unsolicited optimism. We hope to brighten your day with good coffee and great vibes. Come pretend to be a morning person with us!

See you Wednesday (& Saturday!), 7am–3pm.

Dear Graduating Class of 2026, CONGRATS!!! You did it. You worked hard, kept it together (mostly), and powered through a whole lot of studying, stress, and celebrating with us. Thanks for making RoosRoast part of your Ann Arbor era.

Before you strut across that stage: come in wearing your cap + gown and get a free cup of coffee, hot or cold, on us.

And when you head out into the world: you can change your city, but you don’t have to change your coffee. Get a subscription and take us with you! We’ll keep showing up in your mailbox like your ride-or-die bff: caffeinated, committed, and always down to help you make questionable-but-successful life choices.

To our graduating baristas Camilla and Maya, we are in awe. We’re going to miss you so much, but we can’t wait to see what kinds of great things you’re going to do out there in the world. Congrats!!!

xoxo,
RoosRoast

Knowing John Roos may make you more inclined (possibly compelled?) to make a little art, say yes to a wacky idea just to see what happens, chase down a burrito truck on the highway, befriend a stranger at a restaurant like it’s your job, learn to windsurf, get up for a sunrise bike ride, or attempt to move a shipping container using skis and pure confidence. You might even find yourself monitoring the salinity levels of the Huron River and plotting deep local lobster futures. Who knows? One of these questionable (but worth testing) schemes could turn into a whole coffee company. We’re very glad this one did. If you see John today, tell him Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday John!!!
