We’re delighted to formally introduce our Resident Sommelier, Cody Formisano.
Cody’s career in hospitality began at just 15 years old, first in the kitchen in his home state of New York. After moving to Michigan, he pursued beer brewing before eventually finding his way to wine. After time at Arbor Brewing Company and Spencer, his love for wine led him to spend seven and a half years at York, along with two harvests working in the cellar at Boathouse Vineyards in Lake Leelanau.
For Cody, great wine is first and foremost an agricultural product, crafted to encapsulate a specific moment in time.
“Winemaking is a unique pursuit; because it takes a full year to reach harvest, a winemaker might only get 40 or 50 chances in their lifetime to practice their craft. Having only 40 tries to get something right makes every bottle remarkably special. A great wine honors that finite journey, reflecting the place it came from and the patience it took to create.”
His favorite part of being at The Dixboro Project so far? Being surrounded by people who care deeply about their craft and the experiences we create together.
Please help us give him a warm welcome. We’re so grateful to have you on the team, Cody!
