Our Story

The Rusted Rooster was born in December of 2012 after stumbling upon this charming little builing and deciding it was the perfect place to open a little retail shop selling handmade goods and painted furniture. Over the years we have hosted outdoor vintage markets, taught craft + paint classes, held seasonal open houses, and rented our space for small gatherings. Fast forward to 2017 when the idea to add coffee + food to our shop became a serious reality thanks to a passionate gal, her awesome landlord and a serendiptious conversation. Partners, Lissa Hackney and Mitch Lyon share the same "think outside the box" entreprenuerial spirit and adoration for the small town charm of Andover, Kansas. Now if only they could agree on the same NFL team to root for!
