A REALLY COOL FREE OPPORTUNITY 🤟
How many times have you thought, “I really should learn some ASL someday”?
Well… someday could be October.
The Kansas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is offering FREE online American Sign Language classes, taught by a Deaf instructor, and we think this is just too good of an opportunity not to share.
There are several Basic ASL class times to choose from, plus an Intermediate option for those who already know the basics. Classes run for five weeks, and they’re completely online.
Learning even a little ASL gives us another way to welcome people, communicate with our neighbors, and make our community a little more connected. And we're pretty big believers in that around here. ❤️
Registration closes October 6, so check out the original post and flyer for class times and registration information.
Maybe grab a friend and learn together. And if you learn how to sign “I need pizza,” we feel like you've already mastered the important stuff. 🍕🤟

Orange sidebar: The right side of the flyer has a bright orange background with white text.
At the top, it says “ASL is FUN to learn!!”
It explains that ASL is important to the Deaf community because it provides an accessible language through which Deaf people can communicate and share their culture.
It asks, “Is ASL easy to learn?” and explains that basic ASL can be easy for hearing individuals to learn, while becoming fluent is challenging, similar to learning any language.
A section provides tips for how to best interact with Deaf individuals.
At the bottom are three white ASL hand illustrations representing the letters A, S, and L, spelling ASL.
The flyer ends with KCDHH logo and the message at bottom that reads:
“To Learn • Connect • Build Community”
