Mondays are for the quiet work.

After another bustling weekend of familiar faces, new faces, full tables, empty pastry cases, and more dishes than we care to count, the cafe settles into a different rhythm. We scrub the kitchen, take inventory, make plans for the week ahead, and spend a little time reflecting.

Every weekend teaches us something. We’re always adjusting, always improving, always finding little ways to make Mutsi better than it was the week before.

Fridays and Saturdays have become what I call our “double doubles”—full cafe days that roll into lively evenings. They’re long, joyful, exhausting, and exactly what we’ve been dreaming of. Thank you for spending them with us. For lingering over another glass of wine, trying something new, bringing your friends, and making this little corner of Andes feel so alive.

Mondays may be quieter, but the bread never really rests. There’s always a starter to feed, a bin of dough quietly fermenting, bread baskets rising in the walk-in, and flour dust waiting to find its way onto another apron. The cafe catches its breath, but the baking is always humming along in the background.

Buns. Bread. Bubbly.

See you Thursday. 🥰

OH BOY! Mutsi Schedule This Week!

It’s The OH-BOY! Market weekend, which means we’re attempting the impossible: being in two places at once!

We’ll be holding down the fort at the cafe and setting up shop at our favorite market in Andes. Come find us wherever you happen to be wandering.

At the market we’ll have:
Jambon & Gruyère Croissant Sammies
Chilly Dilly Potato Salad
Pulla, morning buns, cookies, and other buttery things
Plenty of cold drinks (we’re betting on Watermelon Presse being the drink of the weekend)

Cafe Hours This Week
Thursday: 9am–2pm
Friday: 9am–5pm
Saturday: 9am–5pm
Sunday: 9am–2pm

🧨A little holiday plot twist🧨
No evening wine bar service this week. Instead, swing by for an afternoon glass of something cold on the porch before we close at 5pm Friday and Saturday. Then go do what everyone should be doing this weekend: find a patch of grass, gather your favorite people, and stare at the sky while things explode.

See you out there.

We’d all love to take a bath in a bin of grapes. Since that’s frowned upon in most establishments, we’ll settle for the next best thing.. tasting through Florèz Wines with the winemaker himself.

This Friday, James Jelks (Florèz Wines , Santa Cruz) rolls into Andes alongside Leah Rinaldi of jennyfrancois . Old world technique, west coast soul: organic, dry-farmed, native yeasts, no additives, never filtered, no sulfur. Wines of pure pleasure and ease on the body.

Meanwhile Mutsi’s gone full summer! Spicy Peanut Watermelon, those Lamb Sliders everyone’s already obsessed with, and whatever the farmers market and garden hand us this week. (It’ll be good. It’s always good.)

Let’s keep the corks popping and give this west coast guy a big, warm Mutsi welcome.

No res. Friday, 5–9pm. You know what to do.

Friday night we are going South African.

On 6/19, 5–9pm, we’re pouring with our dear friend Zaan Eksteen Zaan Eksteen National Sales Manager at Canopy Wine Selections, Canopy Wine Selections born and raised in South Africa, and the man who’s spent fifteen years bringing its wines to New York.

Expect a lineup of beautiful bottles, the stories of the soil and slopes behind them, and a spread of Mutsi favorites to nosh on while you sip. Zaan knows this terroir the way you know your own backyard, so come thirsty and a little curious.

One more thing: Zaan and Nicole go way back!!! From our NYC days both hustling, hosting and drinking our way around the city. Swipe to the last slide for proof (yes, that’s a younger us - lil babies).

Wild terroir, wonderful wine, and very good company. Don’t miss this one.

“What got you here won’t get you there.”

My brother said that to me years ago. I don’t even know if he remembers saying it, but I’ve carried it with me ever since.
Lately, I find myself coming back to it often.

There are seasons of life where you’re building something.. working long days, saying yes to opportunities, learning as you go, figuring things out with equal parts confidence and blind faith. You pour yourself into people, projects, businesses, relationships, dreams. And eventually, if you’re lucky, you look around and realize those efforts have taken you somewhere.

But then comes the next lesson: you can’t stay there.
The thing that helped you start isn’t always the thing that helps you grow. The habits, routines, beliefs, even the version of yourself that got you here may need to shift to get you where you’re headed next.

My brother has another saying: there’s no good news and there’s no bad news. There’s just news.

A catering inquiry falls through. News.
An unexpected opportunity appears. News.
A plan changes. News.
A challenge shows up on a Tuesday when you already have too much on your plate. News.

The meaning comes later. The meaning comes from what you do with it.

Running a business, building a community, welcoming guests into a space you care deeply about.. none of it has taught me certainty. If anything, it’s taught me the opposite. Every week brings a new update. A new variable. A new reason to pivot, adjust, rethink, or recommit.

And honestly, that’s where the beauty is.

The loaf doesn’t always rise the way you expected. The room fills with strangers who leave as friends. The plan changes. The season changes. You change.

Not because something is wrong, but because growth requires movement.

I’ve stopped trying to make life stand still long enough for me to feel ready. Instead, I’m learning to trust the update. To take the information, make the next decision, and keep moving forward.

Because the goal was never to become someone who avoids change.

The goal is to become someone who can dance with it.

Welcome to Mutsi.

PIES & PIES & THIGHS

A celebration of butter, pie dough, and questionable restraint.
Your favorite Catskills baking broads, and , are teaming up for a playful, flirty night in the kitchen at Cafe Mutsi, doling out dishes built around the lush bounty of early summer.

We’ve got flaky pie dough. We’ve got hot buns 😉.

There will be pies, both sweet and savory. There will be thighs (of the chicken variety). There will be a crunchy girlie green garlic goddess situation. Galettes. Buns. Bourbon.
If your mouth isn’t watering yet, there may be something wrong with you.

Come join the party. The tunes will be bumping, the patio will be in full swing, and we’ll be pouring specialty Strawberry Rhubarb Spritzes all evening long. A sunny Saturday, a spritz in hand, and a table full of piezz.. who in the bejeezus can say no to that?

There’s a quiet kind of care that goes into cafe life.

Thought tucked into every decision, every detail. So much love and quality is folded into each pastry, each sandwich, each plate that leaves our kitchen.. it only felt right to find a way to hold and present them with the same intention.
We’re still only scratching the surface of all the stories woven into this place. Still dipping our toes into what Mutsi can become and how deeply we can share it.

With the help of our incredibly talented local designers, and , we created custom pastry papers through inspired by the beauty of a loaf of bread itself. They sat with me, combed through old recipes, took a loaf home, studied its texture and form, and somehow translated that feeling into print.
Seeing our pastries and sandwiches wrapped in these papers feels like another small extension of care. Another layer of the story.

And thank you to for capturing these beauties in action so perfectly.
