Hi Everyone!
We are excited to start serving all our new citizens (as we call our guests) in 2022!
There are lots of questions, I am sure, so hopefully I can answer a few here
1. We will be closed in January to start the remodel, but will reopen on February 1st so you can get all your Valentines Chocolate, satisfy your ice cream cravings and get your fudge packed nice and tight!

2. Yes, we will be keeping all of the products that Goods makes, that is why we bought the company. We are just adding a LOT of new products/gifts and of course, our World Famous Fudge!
3. Even though we are going to “soft open” Uranus on 2/1/22, our Grand Opening Celebration will be on April 1st.
We are just getting started and it will take time to build all of the fun things we have planned for our #2 location. Please be Patient and we will make Uranus the most fun place you and your family have had the pleasure to explore.
In other words, even in 4/1/22, we will be a long way from being finished. We are still building new attractions in Missouri too.
4. What’s coming in Uranus? Things like Uranus Putt Pirates (our mini golf course), Escape Rooms (Escape Uranus), Go Kart Track (Skidmarks), a new and improved Ice Cream and Sandwich shop, Neon Murals, Fun Statues and Photo-ops, a Funhouse/Vortex House and a whole lot more.
5. Apparently, some people hate Planets and make weird comments about being unhappy we are named after a planet?? 🤔🤷‍♂️👀😂🤣
When we are told by someone that they won’t come in Uranus because of the name, our response is always the same… “Okay”
We don’t care if those people don’t come to the store, we only want fun people with a sense of humor to visit us anyway.

6. Is Randy still involved? We have bought Good’s Candy and the only business relationship between Uranus and Randy is that we are leasing the building from him.
7. About the past Hullabaloo at Good’s. We were not involved in any of that and it has nothing to do with us.
We are a fun, family friendly Entertainment Attraction and Fudge and Candy Shop and Manufacturing facility that is moving forward into the future.
Any antagonistic discussions/posts/comments about the past will be deleted as we just don’t care about what other people or another company said/did.
It wasn’t us, has nothing to do with us and we are moving forward and won’t be pulled into arguments or discussions for others actions. It’s a waste of our time and we are going to focus on the future.
8. We will be hiring after the first of the year. You can send a resume right now to [email protected]
Please don’t send PMs with questions about what jobs and pay as we will be making a post about that and listing the positions and pay on jobs sites soon.
We just can’t keep up with answering a lot of PMs with info we don’t have exactly right now with all of the other things we are trying to get done with the change of Ownership.
9. You can learn more about us and what we are all about by visiting some of our FB pages in Missouri
Uranus Missouri
Uranus Fudge Factory and General Store
The Uranus Ice Cream Company
Uranus Sideshow Museum
Escape Uranus (still closed due to Covid)
(Putt pirates link is above)

10. You can get your Fudge Packed now by visiting our online store at www.UranusGeneralStore.com

11. We love it so much here that the Mayor and his family are moving here and making Indiana our new HQ!

12. Lastly, follow our new Uranus Indiana page to keep up to date on our progress. We won’t post much info here in comparison to that page.

There is more info to come as we get caught up.
We want to thank everyone in Anderson and Madison County for the warm welcome and we hope to become a valuable asset to our new home.

Thanks from all of us in Uranus!

There is a new Mayor in Town!
I am moving in to the new Uranus Indiana Mayor’s office today.

In 2021, I kept my campaign promise to make even more promises.
In 2022, I am going to spread Uranus across the nation!

This will be the last entry.

Captains log, December 31st, 2021

Before I begin I would like to say that the puker and splitter post had nothing to do with my decision to sell. That decision had been made a couple months prior. The post did alter the timing of the announcement, in a good way. I was presented with something unpleasant and turned it into the final phase of my lifes work. I let the haters believe they had won by announcing when I did so they would advertise for me. I remember saying to my lovely bride, "I don't care what they think of me if they find me a buyer!" 4 days later, Good's was sold! I cannot be more please!

I've been so busy the reality of what is about to happen doesn't seem real. Even with the outpouring of well wishers it doesn't feel like it's over.

There isn't much you don't know about me as it pertains to work and Good's Candy Shop. Privately I live much differently than you imagine, I'm sure.

I'm a loner. I don't hang out and seldom eat away from home. I have friends who understand my quirkiness and are accomadating. My wife and I do very well alone. It's how we prefer it. We are not much on entertaining. We did for a few years, but we ran out of steam.

I don't belong to any clubs, organizations or anything organized. I found they altered my creativity and robbed me of time. I had a great 18 year run with Exchange and am proud of the work we did.

If everyone is doing it I mostly do not want anything to do with it. I don't like crowds anymore and I hate following anything. I purged sports years ago. I decided not to love something that was incapable of loving me back, even the Cubs and IU basketball. They all had to go. As you may know I don't listen to radio, read the paper or watch TV. I seem to stay up on topics enough without them.

I find many things hilarious. I love to laugh and my temper can be bad. I hate that about myself. I'm better but that demon shows itself occassionaly.

One thing I can say for sure after all of these years, no significant weight gain! I don't look like I'm 40 but I can still wear 32's! ha!!

Kids, dogs and mature women love me! ha! It's always been this way!

I'm self educated in business. I did not care for school.

I have other business interests in Anderson and will always be around in warm weather. My wife and I love it here. It's our home. We winter in Florida as the cold hurts more than it used to!! ha!!

This FB page will no longer be mine at Midnight and will be removed from it's access. I'm good with this.

I'll try to respond to as many of you as I can before hand. I'll tell ya, I'm getting tired! ha!! As grandpa would say, getting old ain't for sissys! ha!

To all of my employees, past and present, I thank you for helping me build Good's Candy Shop. I have and have had some wonderful people be a part of our success. They went on to be successful themselves.

To you who have been with me for all these years, I truly appreciate you and the work you've done. You've been great to work with.

To you, my guests. Words can't express my true appreciation for all you have done for Good's. You made us a household name. I am forever grateful.

I've sold Good's Candy Shop at the pinnacle. We've never been more successful, but I'm ready to go.

To Louie and Uranus. I could not be more pleased with who I sold to. You run a top notch organization with some great people. I'm highly impressed. To top it off, I've made a great friend.

I'm signing off looking forward to being a civilian! ha!!

From the bottom of my soggy heart, I wish you all the best in what life has to offer.

Always in memory of chocolate,
Randy Good

Winner winner Good's Chocolate is for dinner!!

I read some of the most heartwarming stories ever. My eyes watered as I read some. I just had no idea how many lives we touched. I really appreciate all of your efforts. I had a very difficult time selecting a winner from such wonderful entries. I selected this one because it just sounded like he is a good kid with a bright future. I didn't really have any idea what I was looking for but his stood out. Thank you all so much for participating!

Remember! Auction time at 5pm for the final Good's box of chocolates!!!

Congratulaions Austin!

Randy, I’m a young kid from Madison County. I’ve been going to goods since it was just a chocolate shop! You’ve always had great products and service and it’s always been a pleasure going to your shop. Eating your quality ice cream has always been a treat! You as a person/ business owner have always inspired me. I loved how you ran your shop and I always wished I could meet you. As a young adult I love history especially history of our great city of Anderson/ Madison county. As I grow up in this crazy world. I’d like to have a box of Goods chocolate to show the history of where I grew up, show where hard work gets you, and something to have that I can cherish and show to my future generations of family members. I believe the future is bright and it’s always nice to know that with hard work anything is possible just like what you’ve done and having this box would show just that for me. Thank you for everything you’ve done Randy, without a doubt I am definitely going to miss Goods!

Great timing!

Please do not let my posts side track you from these wonderful stories. I have a few posts to do today.

This one was unexpected! I received this yesterday in the mail as many of you did. I've met Victoria a couple times, seems like a nice person. She's also visited here at Good's.

Her flyer is the perfect example of what I wrote of yesterday. Have you asked Victoria to: Or care about the following as it pertains to your daily life?

Address noncompliance by Chinese companies listed on US exchanges with auditing standards? Huh???

Streamline oversight of capital markets? Oh yes, tell me more! ha!! Streamlining sounds like less government and that is never going to happen.

Reform budgeting and auditing of the federal government. These people audit and investigate themselves. Reform?? When is the last time you saw government reform anything?

Simplify America's tax code to reduce compliance burden on individuals and small businesses. I've been witness to the government simplifying the tax code. They make it more complicated so those who work the tax code can maintain their status.

Champion recruitment into the accounting profession. This one is very interesting. She is a wealthy accountant. HER focus, not yours or mine, is to recruit accountants? And she uses Champion? Champion! Is this even a problem? Is it our problem?

Hold Washington Accountable - again with the accounting. Who is she holding them accountable too? We all know it's impossible to understand whats going on behind doors in Washington let alone holding them accountable for it. They are all in the same club and we ain't in it!

Good's Day!!

We have a lot to cover today!

This is my final day owning my lifes work, Good's Candy Shop.

I didn't sleep all that well and I think it's because I still have duties to complete here. We are installing a new candy machine for Louie and there is still a lot to work through. We have to teach ourselves as there aren't any of these wonderful machines in the US I'm aware of. It's state of the art and will consistently make perfect Good's Candy.. I mean, Uranus Candy! ha!!

Today as my final day in retail I want to do something fun. I have 2 -2lb boxes of Good's Candy I've held back for this day.

I would like to give one away to you if you can provide on here the best reason why. I don't know what I'm looking for in the reason, but you who know or know about me have the best chance. I have no rules, guidlines or specifications. I'm just looking to do my last give a way today! I will announce the winner at 4:30 pm today!

For the other box; I am going to auction it off at 5pm. If you would like to participate please be at the shop at 5pm. I will donate the money to the cause closest to your heart. Being the final day of 2021 it may behoove you to make a donation to help you with your tax load! Please bring cash or a local check. Sorry, credit cards machines are off.

So, today I'm looking for a great story and money for a good cause! These two boxes are the only ones in the world available from Good's. After today we fade into the history of Anderson, Madison County, Indiana and the United States.

Let's have some fun, raise a little money and close out Good's in Good's style!

Thank you and good luck!
Randy

I also will be sharing final thoughts throughout the day.

12/30/2021

More thoughts;

Politicians

I was asked to run for state representative back in the '80's. I was invited to the state house, had lunch and met with some elected officials.

I went away shocked and a bit disturbed. I had expectations that we would discuss state affairs, ideas and thoughts about the future. The only subject that was discussed was their re-election. I kid you not. It was alarming to me. During the meal, who they were going to beat in the election was the only topic. It wasn't an election year!

This is what I know. Politicians are just like you and me. They want to keep their jobs. I'm speaking of our state and national legislatures.( I've no opinion to voice about our local government. )

Keeping their jobs consumes them. More so than the average working American.

I learned during the Covid debacle exactly what politicians are about. Power, protectionism and self preservation is their only goal. They proved it everyday. Both parties!

Read the mailers they send out. Education, military and social programs are the main topic. Those who sprinkle in small business as a platform are the worst. How many of us have written them asking for what they say they've accomplished? Are we taking the best care of our military families? How do you think education is going? Why are they bent on social problems when our roads are awful and they are taxing us under the guise of fees, licensing and permits? They are lawmakers. How about doing that first.

I love our political system as it is the best in the world, bar none. But why do we continue to re-elect people knowing things aren't getting better? Entrenched politicians are a poison to our political system. They play us like cheap violins knowing if they can keep us arguing the democrat republican positions, they can continue to take full advatage of us. For heaven sakes, they are all rich! State representatives and senators get rich from the insider info they are privy to. We aren't. We aren't privy to the paid time off, insurance or pensions. These people aren't special and yet they can buy stock on insider information legally! The deck is stacked. We treat them and they act like royalty. It's sickening. Keep doing what we're doing, keep getting what we have.

It will never change. They are in charge. They make the laws and rules. They own everything and everyone. And if they don't own it or control it, they are after it. We have zero chance of significant change.

There is a 30% chance of enacting a law if 100% of the people wanted it. There is exactly a 30% chance of enacting a law if no one wants it. Daily they work to drive small business into extinction. They don't care. They don't care.

I will continue to live very well despite their best efforts to control everything and everyone. I don't allow them to factor into my life at all. I couldn't care less about them as politicians. They are not worthy of my attention nor have they earned it.

Stop paying them attention or money and see some crazy behavior!

My advice and my voting record is this: if they are in office, vote them out. I don't care if they cured the common cold. They have to go. It's our only hope for improvement. Make them work for us through our imposed term limit. One and done!

These are my thoughts. Yours are probably different. I'm great with that!
Thanks for reading!

One more day before I exit here and Good's.
You all are awesome!
