I guess it's out there now! Stay with us while we get this thing off the ground!

TO BE CLEAR: McGee's Scot-Irish Pub will continue to operate as is for the predictable future. She's our 1st born & we love her deeply.

Besides, McGee's Scot-Irish Pub property is not nearly large enough to handle the expected capacity - seating or parking.

As for our 1st Steak & Ale, we have several potential locations we are excited about, but it would be pre-mature to announce this detail. We do intend our first location to be in Anderson Co.

☘️ The Irish handshake is not a formality. It's an assessment. In the time it takes, the Irish man or woman shaking your hand has registered the firmness of your grip, the directness of your eye contact, and the quality of your attention, and has formed a view of your character that will take considerable subsequent evidence to revise in either direction. This isn't cynicism. It's a finely tuned social instrument developed over centuries of needing to read people quickly and accurately in a landscape where the wrong read could have serious consequences.

Irish greeting culture more broadly carries a warmth and a specificity that visitors consistently remark on and that Irish people don't always recognize as culturally distinct because it's simply how things are done. You ask after people by name. You ask about their family by name. You remember what they told you last time and you follow up on it, not as a social technique but as a genuine expression of the Irish understanding that paying attention to people is a form of respect that costs nothing and means everything. The person who greets you in an Irish village and asks how your mother is doing genuinely wants to know how your mother is doing.

Irish-American families carried this greeting culture across the Atlantic and it shows up in ways that their non-Irish neighbors sometimes find unexpectedly intense, the uncle who shakes your hand and looks you in the eye for just a beat longer than you expected, the aunt who remembers every detail of every conversation you've ever had and opens the next one exactly where the last one ended. That's not a social skill. That's a cultural inheritance. Drop a comment and follow The Irish Remembered for more. 🌿☘️

We're having a wonderful week at McGee's Scot-Irish Pub. It was great to have a minute to meet some new regulars our staff has been telling me about. AJ was especially fun to chat with at the bar Fri night. He's a marine finishing a degree at AU, living downtown, & loves everything he's tried on the menu so far. He says he hasn't felt more at home since the last time he was at his Nanna's. What an endorsement! I watched him consume a 1/2 Roasted Drambuie Chicken with all the trimmings & a Creme Brulee while we gabbed...he's a growing young man. Which brings me to my next point:

Please join us for Sunday Brunch tomorrow from 11am-3pm. We are going to be featuring Prime Rib & Eggs AND a traditional Sunday Roast Dinner complete with Yorkshire Puddings (the 1/2 Roast Drambuie Chicken with mashed potatoes, vegetable, & poultry gravy). I'd love to meet you over a hearty meal as well.

I'm Annie btw....I'm the new Resident Hostess. I will be doing social media posts for McGee's Scot-Irish Pub & other PR duties along with John & Dixie. Please say "Hi" when you get a chance.
