The culture and menu of Sunset Grill and Pizza is a venture held very close to owner Rebecca Casagrande's heart. Rebecca and her husband Jason have always been members of the Amherst area and community. Rebecca grew up in Shutesbury, went on to graduate from ARHS and then UMass. Jason of Pelham, is also an ARHS alumnus and now works as a contractor. They are raising their three children Rachael (23), Kenny (19), and Autumn (7) in the house next door to where Jason himself grew up. Owning her own restaurant has always been Rebecca's dream. As a UMass alumna, and a mother, Rebecca recognized the need for a space that would cater to the interests of students and residents long ago. However, it wasn't until her oldest daughter was diagnosed with Celiac disease that she realized the austerity of extreme dietary restrictions and the challenges those affected face when trying to eat out. The support of her friends and family allowed Rebecca to pursue her dream. Special thanks are due to Jason and Kenny for their speedy and diligent renovations and to Autumn for her unconditional excitement and willingness to help. AND special thanks to YOU for eating here.
