Unconventional Exit Announcement Ahead!
2025 has been a sabbatical from Bessie’s Parlor. This season of pause has granted me time to evaluate how Bessie’s Parlor fits into my family’s goals.
Bessie’s Parlor has evolved with me from single college student to married professional to full-time mom, and I am grateful.
While ice cream has been the means, the heart of Bessie’s Parlor has consistently been social impact. In the coming evolution of Bessie’s Parlor, this will remain true.
Ice cream socials to raise funds for social justice initiatives, such as Martha’s House of Hope, The Ames Romero House, and The Bridge Home, have been Bessie’s Parlor’s sweet spot.
While the mission still aligns with my family’s goals, I am stepping away from the business to be fully present to my family.
“What does a ‘successful exit’ from this venture look like?” is something I have pondered this year. Rather than selling the business to new ownership, the exit strategy on which I have landed aims to multiply the mission.
There is no shortage of need when it comes to funding for social justice initiatives, and I have been shown that this community of ice cream lovers possesses great compassion and drive to meet that need.
Therefore, my exit looks like handing over the playbook on how to host ice cream socials for social justice.
