Here’s one of the signature drinks we started with nearly three years ago, and it continues to be a favorite for many. It warms our hearts when people tell us they just came to the mall for Strawberry Lemonade! Here's a new Hills-style dog that's definitely different but comfortably familiar: the French Onion Dog. No, not that foreign wet bread soup kind of stuff, but that Iowa summer picnic kind of stuff! We start with our traditional bun and Nathan's all-beef hot dog, slather it with Anderson Erickson's French Onion dip, then top it with crushed Ruffle's potato chips and chopped green onions. It's a good dog, for sure! Today the mall closes at 4 PM for Christmas Eve but if you're last-minute shopping then stop by for a snack. As for our most popular food, hot dogs are now firmly in second place because of the new additions like the Chili Cheese Dog and the Taco Dog. However, our nearly famous milkshakes are right behind them, thanks to the new Oreo Milkshake and this one here: the Reese's Peanut Butter Milkshake! Yum! Here's a Hills-style dog we've recently introduced; the Junkyard Dog. It's chili with a bite! We start with a bun and Nathan's all-beef hot dog, then top it with homemade chili (no beans), cheddar cheese sauce, diced jalapeno, and crumbled Frito-lay potato chips. Attendance at North Grand Mall yesterday looked a lot like Black Friday, and the halls were filled with the scent of freshly baked pretzels! Strawberry Hills kitchen served Iowa comfort food all day, which was great! However, we didn't expect how much attention our new Oreo Milkshake would get. It's not a thick shake making it easy to drink. In fact, some people wouldn't remove the straw from their mouth until it was gone! The Oreo cookies are finely blended with vanilla ice cream and milk and then topped with whip cream. We sold out of a giant package of cookies in about 3 hours, so it'll be popular! We've been getting a lot of good reviews on our "Regional-style" hot dogs, such as the Chicago Dog and Iowa Dog. Because they've been so popular, we're getting creative with some new "Hills-style" hot dogs. First up is the Taco Dog, which has evolved from our Walking Tacos. Stop by and try one soon! 😋🌮🌭❤️

At last! It took a bit to get our Iowa State Fair demo video ready, but it’s here now for those who missed it. The event ran about 45 minutes, so we’ve trimmed it down a bit. Thanks again to those who came out to the fair to see us! We were kinda nervous preparing for the event but felt comfortable once we got settled in. The new kitchen was fun to play in, and the staff said we drew a crowd of nearly a hundred people. Good times indeed! We recommend you stop in the Maytag building next year to see any food-related demos. Plus, it's a great place to cool down from the scorching summer heat! Take care, folks. There’s been a lot of buzz about our new regional-style hot dogs, but it's time to focus on what got us started: summer's official dessert, strawberry shortcake. As it turns out, the Iowa State Fair Board asked if we would showcase our shortcake at their new Demonstration Kitchen in the Maytag building, which we graciously accepted. So this Saturday, August 13th, at 11:00 AM, Strawberry Hills will demonstrate how to make classic strawberry shortcakes at the Iowa State Fair! We’ve been told there’s seating for 200 people, but I bet there’s standing room as well. We’ll give out samples while they last, so we hope you all can get one! As a result, we’ll be closed at our North Grand Mall location Saturday, August 13th, so if we don’t see you at the fair, we’ll see you back in Ames on Sunday when normal hours resume. Strawberry Hills Sweets & Treats. Join a small family owned and operated kitchen located at North Grand Mall in Ames. Your responsibility will include food preparation as well as customer service. You must enjoy working alone for the weekday shifts operating 11 AM to 6:30 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Starting wage is $13+ per hour depending on kitchen experience.
