💞💞💞 BUON SAN VALENTINO!!! 💞💞💞

Today I'm going to share with you the legend of San Valentino 🌹🌹🌹

"It is said that Priest Valentino from Terni ( 226-269 A.C. ) loved Roses.

One day while taking care of his rose-garden he heard a young couple who had recently got engaged, arguing bitterly.

Valentino decided to introduced himself to the two young lovers holding in his hand the best looking rose from his garden.

Then he handed the rose to the partners, begging them to make peace by squeezing the stem of the flower together, being careful not to get poked by the rose thorns, and praying that the Lord would keep their newly blossomed love safe from conflicts forever, just like that rose.

Sometime later, the young couple returned to Valentino asking to bless their upcoming wedding.

That story spread so much throughout Terni that lovers from all over the city began to visit Valentino to get their union blessed.

Bishop Valentino died years later on February 14th.

Later, in 496 A.C., Papa Gelasio, trying to replace the "Lupercalia pagan rituals" celebrated on February 15th by the Romans, established the 14th of February as lover's day and San Valentino "Patron Saint of love"👼👼👼

MÀSTRA IS HIRING!

The hardest part of my misadventure in Italy was knowing that the dear guys working beside me at Màstra ( someone would call them "employees", I just don't ), were on the other side of the earth struggling to keep the restaurant operational until I came back.

During those weeks they've really put everything into their work, and they did so because of the bond of love between all of us in the staff and the higher values and purpose that was driving us.

The story ended up we had to temporary lock the front doors because my Visa wasn't coming yet and two of my guys were about to quit due to personal projects.

The last day at the restaurant there was a sense of failure and defeat.
Someone broke down in tears.
Picturing that scene in my mind is still a heart breaking experience. I really wish that would never happen.

But... the day always dawns, even after the darkest night, and today I'm gathering together a new staff of guys, bond by the same values and driven by the same love for making people happy through great food and hospitality.

Manarola, Cinque Terre, La Spezia (IT)

Some people think that Liguria is the most beautiful Region of Italy.

As a teenager I was kind of a loner. I loved just spending time surrounded by nature.
Some afternoons after school, I remember jumping on my motorcycle, riding west from Genova on the Via Aurelia SS1 ( State Street 1 ).

Since Via Aurelia was originally designed by the ancient Romans, It's still like a narrow two lanes rollercoaster; a sort of never-ending "going up and down-turn right and left" route, carved on the steep side of Liguria mountains.

Riding there on spring was such an intense experience for me:

On my left, steep wild mountains covered in wild vegetation and on my right, a overhang falling down into the blue sea.

That riding is like a sweet swingin from the chilly air and three resin scent getting more and more pungent as you reach the summits, to a smooth sliding down surrounded by intense flower fragrances, vibrant colors and the warm breeze coming from the sea.

But, all in all, I believe that my favorite time at the Cinque Terre was on fall/winter when no humming nor crowds were there: on those seasons everything around seems like slowing down. The sun is warm and the chilly breeze crash the waves against the vertical cliffs spraying the saltiness' smell all around.

In those moments you just..

close your eyes,

take a slow deep breath,

fill your lungs and nose of the ocean,

feel endowed with peace.
