The weather created a sour taste at times for Picklesburgh, which last year drew more than 200,000 people. Sales through the first two days were down about 40% from previous years, said Jeremy Waldrup, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. Attendance was also down because of the smoke and haze. Picklesburgh announced that it will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday — an hour earlier and an hour later than planned — to help vendors recoup some of the business lost as a result of the conditions on Thursday and Friday. “Everybody’s kind of realized this is not going to be a banner year,” Waldrup, said. “Our numbers are way off from what we anticipated and rightfully so — obviously people are being safe and we completely understand that.
