My grandparents moved from Nuevo Laredo via Monterrey, Mexico to Midland Texas and later opened El Monterrey cafe in the 50's. I started as a busboy around '79 then cooked with both my grand parents and my parents in the mid 80's. My father opened Tacos Garcia on the blvd in 86' and it needed a boost !! So Mitsy and I took over in '88 and grew it. We built the current building in 1999, and added n

umerous plates including New Mexican recipes from her families home state and a full bar. We are a blend of cultures as our family is a blend.

There is so much to give thanks for.
As we look back over the years, we see God's hand in every part of this journey. Through blessings and challenges, celebrations and hardships, encouragement and even moments of misunderstanding, He has remained faithful. Our decision to openly share our faith and surrender to Him hasn't always been understood, but His goodness has never failed us.

Our small Tex-Mex business exists because of His grace and because of a community that has loved, supported, prayed for, and believed in us. To every person who has shared a meal, offered a kind word, lifted us up in prayer, or simply stood by us—thank you. You have been part of God's story in our lives.

We invite you to join us for an evening of prayer and praise as we give all the glory to God for what He has done and continues to do. We'll also be praying for those who are stepping out in faith to serve others through their own businesses and callings, asking God to strengthen, guide, and encourage them. See you this Sunday starting at 6:30, at our place Tacos Garcia at Wellington, 1619 S Kentucky.

Whether you've been with us from the beginning or are just joining us now, we'd be honored to worship and give thanks together.
Everyone is welcome. The ONE who believes in us has ALL authority! Praise HIM. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

At TG's we're always looking for ways to make your favorite meals even better. ❤️
We've been having some fun in the kitchen and might have a few new goodies coming to the menu:
🌮 Stuffed Sopapillas
🌽 Elote Bites (our take on a classic street corn appetizer!)
🍩 Shareable Churro Beignets, warm, sweet, and perfect for the whole table.

We also want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to Chef Ariel with US Foods for spending the day with us, sharing your talent, creativity, and inspiration. We had a great time learning from you, and we're excited about what's cooking!

Nothing is set in stone just yet—we're still tasting, tweaking, and dreaming—but we'd love to know what you think. Which one would you be most excited to see on the menu?

As always, thank you for supporting our little family restaurant. We couldn't do this without our wonderful community. ❤️ Blessings Taco Loves 🌮🫶🏽🙏🏼

There has been so much on our hearts these past several weeks, and honestly... it's hard to put into words just how grateful we are.

To every person who has walked through our doors, shared a post, left an encouraging comment, prayed for us, waited patiently, or simply chose to have a meal with us... thank you. We are deeply moved by your love and support.

One thing we want you to know is this: no one ever comes to work intending to serve anything less than their absolute best.

Our greatest hope has always been to see every person, serve every meal, and make each guest feel seen, known, and cared for. To us, it's always been about so much more than food.

The reality is, like many small businesses after COVID, we face limitations. There are moments when we simply cannot be everywhere at once. We've had to learn to surrender our own expectations of what we can accomplish alone and trust others to help carry the work. That kind of humility isn't always easy, but it's necessary. Sometimes serving others also means allowing others to serve us.

If your experience with us wasn't what it should have been, we sincerely ask for your grace. Please come back and give us another opportunity to love and serve you well. We believe in redemption, restoration, and making things right.

Because of your incredible support, we're now at the place where it's time to grow our TG family. We're praying for the right people—friendly, honest, hardworking individuals with hearts to serve. If you would join us in praying that God brings the right team members, we'd be so grateful.

For quite some time we've worn every hat imaginable—prepping, cooking, running the line, serving guests, cleaning, jumping from the kitchen to the dining room and back again. We're excited to build a team that allows us to spend more time doing one of our favorite things... getting to know each of you.

Your support has done so much more than keep us busy.

You've helped us pay our bills.
You've helped us take care of the patient vendors who believed in us.
You've literally helped keep our lights on.
And now, you're helping us build a team that can continue serving this amazing community well.

To those who stop by on your lunch breaks...
To fellow small business owners who have shared your own stories of struggle and perseverance...
To families who have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, and made new memories here...
To those who tell us the food still tastes just like the "old days"...
Please know that every conversation, every smile, and every encouraging word has meant more than you realize.

We also want to say thank you to a few who have blessed us beyond words.

Our gracious landlords at Wellington Square—thank you for believing in us and making us feel like family.

Thank you to Freedom Bail Bonds, Chill Out, US Foods Throwbacks Sports Bar , Aculaser, Alex Lucero, Rory Schepisi, family at Mi Gente and so many others who have encouraged us, supported us, and stood beside us through this season. You have been a light during some very heavy days.

Please continue supporting local businesses. Whether you're dining with us or visiting another locally owned shop or restaurant, your support truly matters. It keeps dreams alive, families employed, and communities thriving.

And because you've shown us so much love...

We've been working on something special in the kitchen just for you. Stay tuned—there are new menu items and exciting things coming soon!

We're also prayerfully planning an evening of worship and thanksgiving here at TGs. A night to simply gather, worship, share testimonies, and celebrate all that God has done. There have been so many miracles—both great and small—that happened behind the scenes, and we can't wait to share those stories with you.

To our friends and family who volunteered during those first weeks...
To our incredible crew who weathered every storm alongside us...
To every guest who believed in us...

Thank you.

It's amazing to think about where we were just weeks ago and where we are today. All because of God's faithfulness and the love of this community.

We choose not to live in fear, but in faith. We believe God is still doing a good work—not just here, but in the hearts of so many people who feel called to serve, encourage, and love their communities.

From the bottom of our hearts...

Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.

To God be all the honor and all the glory. ❤️

Purging, Pruning & Trusting the Gardener

There is so much pruning that takes place in life and in business. Scripture reminds us that God is the Gardener. He is constantly tending His vineyard, cutting away what no longer serves His purpose, shaping every detail into His masterpiece for His Kingdom and His glory.

Sometimes the tools He uses seem surprisingly small.

A tiny handheld device.

Just days before the social media post that unexpectedly brought so much attention to our little place, one of our crew members found my husband's cell phone at the bottom of the deepest dish sink in our kitchen. At the time, we had no idea how it got there. We know now who was responsible and why, but in that moment, it simply seemed like an inconvenience.

Looking back, it was so much more.

That little phone had quietly become a distraction. Not because phones are bad, but because they can so easily consume our attention. If we're honest, most of us can spend countless hours scrolling through things that add very little to our lives. Beyond wasted time, these little devices can become a source of anxiety, frustration, comparison, division, and hurt. In an instant, a few words or comments online can damage someone's reputation or deeply wound a heart.

When the phone was found, my husband made an unexpected decision. Rather than immediately replacing it, he chose to go without one. For eleven days he lived without a phone, waiting for the new one to arrive.

Those eleven days became a gift.

With one major distraction removed, God began doing a deeper work. There was more quiet. More listening. More room. More surrender.

It wasn't simply that a phone was gone—it was that something competing for attention had been laid down. His heart became more available to receive what God wanted to reveal. Tino has always been a man of faith, but like all of us, there are seasons when God lovingly asks for more. More trust. More dependence. More surrender.

And when we make room, God fills it.

Just a few days after the "dish pit phone incident," God prompted me to share our story publicly with complete vulnerability. He simply asked me to trust Him with whatever would come of it.

Ironically, my husband had no idea the post had even gone out... because he didn't have a phone.

Looking back now, I can't help but smile. God had complete freedom to work without our constant watching, worrying, refreshing, or reacting. He was doing what only He could do.

And He did.

Over the years we've experienced slander, harsh words, misunderstandings, disappointed guests, criticism, and seasons that hurt deeply. Business owners often live in the public eye. We become easy targets. We aren't allowed many bad days, and somehow the expectations become even higher when people know we follow Christ.

We are not perfect. We never have been. We are simply people trying to faithfully steward what God has entrusted to us.

But through every season, God has remained faithful.

He sees every unseen tear, every false accusation, every act of kindness, every sacrifice made in secret. If we allow Him, He truly fights our battles.

Our calling from the very beginning was never simply to serve food.

It was to serve Him.

To make Him known.

Every smile, every thank you, every encouraging conversation, every small act of kindness, every meal shared around a table—these become opportunities for His love to be seen. Because He is love.

So many of you have walked through our doors and become part of our lives. You've shared your stories, your prayers, your encouragement, your kindness, and your friendship. Through you, we have experienced Christ's love over and over again.

God is so incredibly good.

His plans are far greater than our tiny hearts can imagine, and I truly believe He is still writing this story. We hope you'll continue walking this journey with us as together we watch Him unfold what only He could have planned.

If there's one thing this season has taught me, it's this:

Trust Him.

Completely.

Whatever you're carrying... whatever battle you're facing... whatever disappointment, suffering, uncertainty, or fear you're walking through... surrender it to the Great I AM.

Trust Him in ways you never have before.

He is still parting seas.

He is still moving mountains.

He is still making a way where there seems to be none.

He is working—even when we cannot yet see it.

So BE NOT AFRAID.

As Jesus said and many of you have reinforced for us:

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven." (Matthew 5:11–12)

Our hope has never been in circumstances.

Our hope has always been—and always will be—in Him.

Tiny Update: in the one week that God took our tiny efforts and did the miraculous with it, He provided double in our sales compared to the previous week. DOUBLE - that was all YOU !! Each of you that showed up and proclaimed this great love and support. Muchas Gracias, love ya Tino & Steph

To our Panhandle community—thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
We are beyond grateful for the incredible support you've shown our family-owned restaurant. Your kindness, patience, and encouragement have exceeded anything we ever imagined.
Many of you have noticed we've been closing for a short time during the afternoon. The reason is simple—we've been selling out! 🌮 Because of your amazing support, we've had to restock our ingredients, prepare fresh batches of our homemade favorites, and get everything ready again for dinner service.
We are also completely blown away by the incredible love you've shared on social media. Your posts, recommendations, and kind words have reached so many people and have helped make our little restaurant busy again. What a true blessing it has been to witness.
Above all, we want to give God all the glory. He has been faithful through every challenge, and we truly believe He is the reason for this season of blessings. We are humbled by His goodness and by the amazing community He has surrounded us with.
Thank you for believing in us, supporting local, and sharing us with your family and friends. Every visit, every meal, and every recommendation means more than words can express.
From our family to yours, thank you, Amarillo. May God bless each and every one of you. ❤️🙏🌮
See ya at 5!!!

For the last 10 years, my husband and I have had the honor of serving our community through our Tex-Mex restaurant. Looking back, our journey hasn't been the "normal" business story. We didn't build it from the ground up, but God entrusted it to us, and we've done our best to steward it through every season.

Some seasons have been full of joy and abundance. Others have brought heartache, uncertainty, sacrifice, and more tears than most people will ever know.

Today, we want to share our hearts with complete transparency.

We truly believe we are in a season where God is refining us. His Word says He prunes what He loves so it can bear more fruit, and while pruning is never comfortable, we trust the hand of the Gardener. What has looked like loss to the world, we believe God is using for His glory. He is cleansing, purging, strengthening, and teaching us to depend on Him more than ever before.

Over the past year, our crew has become very small. Business has slowed, and finding people who are willing to stay and become part of our family has been difficult. Most days, it's just a handful of us wearing multiple hats, pouring our hearts into every plate that leaves our kitchen and every person who walks through our doors.

We know some of you have noticed. Maybe you've waited a little longer or seen the same few faces doing everything they can. We simply ask for your grace.

Last night, after we finished our evening shift, I glanced at our social media post and just sat there in disbelief. Over 1,000 people had shared it, including many of our local business'.

I can't even begin to tell you what that meant to us.

As I started scrolling through the shares, I found myself wanting to "love" every single one. I wanted each of you to know that we saw you, that we appreciated you, and that your simple act of sharing gave us hope. Before I knew it, tears were rolling down my face. My heart was overflowing with gratitude. In a season that has often felt lonely and heavy, God used your kindness to remind us that we are not walking this road alone.

Today, we took the time to prepare for our evening service, just as we always do. No matter what season we're in, our desire is to give our very best to every person who walks through our doors. If you choose to join us this evening, our hope is simple: to love you right where you are, serve you a great meal, and let you know just how grateful we are that you chose to spend your time with us.

The enemy would love for us to believe this season is defeat. But we refuse to give fear the final word. We know the God we serve. He has never failed us, and He isn't about to start now. Even when we can't see what He's doing, we know He is working. Every hardship has purpose. Every trial has meaning. Every tear has been seen by Him.

To every person who shared our story, prayed for us, stopped in for a meal, sent us an encouraging message, or simply spoke our name in prayer—you have been the hands and feet of Jesus to our family. You may never fully know what your kindness has meant, but God does, and so do we.

If God has ever used our restaurant to bless your family, celebrate a milestone, comfort you after a hard day, or simply provide a good meal and a welcoming place, we humbly ask that you continue to stand with us. Your prayers mean everything. Your visits make a difference. Your encouragement reminds us why we keep showing up.

We're not giving up because God hasn't told us to. We will continue to trust Him, serve with excellence, and believe that this season of pruning will produce a harvest only He can bring.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us, praying for us, and walking alongside us. We are trusting that the best chapters of this story are still being written—not for our name, but for His glory.

"Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9

May God bless each and every one of you for the love you've shown our little restaurant and our family. We love you all more than words can express. ❤️ Tino & Steph & your taco familia
