My grandparents moved from Nuevo Laredo via Monterrey, Mexico to Midland Texas and later opened El Monterrey cafe in the 50's. I started as a busboy around '79 then cooked with both my grand parents and my parents in the mid 80's. My father opened Tacos Garcia on the blvd in 86' and it needed a boost !! So Mitsy and I took over in '88 and grew it. We built the current building in 1999, and added numerous plates including New Mexican recipes from her families home state and a full bar. We are a blend of cultures as our family is a blend.

❤️ Labor Day Weekend Schedule ❤️
Our TG family will be taking a little time to celebrate family, faith, and togetherness this Labor Day weekend.

We’ll be closed Sunday the 6th for our granddaughter’s baptism and Monday the 7th for a much-needed Taco Family Day of Rest. 🌮👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

We’re so grateful for our amazing guests and crew, we appreciate your understanding as we take these two days to slow down, celebrate, and recharge together. Please come by and see us before then! 🫶🏽
