This one hit us hard.💙
We recently learned that children removed from unsafe situations sometimes spend long hours waiting for placement with very little of their own. Often times leaving workers to pay for essential out of their own pockets which I was so sad to hear.
We told them the same thing we’ll always stand by:
No child in that situation will ever be turned away hungry from Heavy Haulers BBQ.
Now we’d love to help support the local gift card drive through Booker’s Place for children waiting on placement. If you or your business would like to donate gift cards for food, clothing, or essentials, every little bit helps. You can drop them off at HH and I will make sure they get to the lady in charge or you can message the Booker Place on here if you’re more comfortable doing it that way.
These kids are going through enough already. We have some of the nicest customers and friends so I know we can make a dent, let’s show them our community cares.💙

💙May is Foster Care Awareness Month💙
Right now, there are children in our community sitting in offices… waiting for placement. The reality is, this is not a rare occurrence. On any given day, any given hour, children are removed from dangerous situations.
Waiting for somewhere safe to go.
Waiting for comfort.
Waiting for someone to care.
We may not be able to change their situation overnight…
but we can come together to make those moments a little easier.
👉 This month, Booker’s Place Child Advocacy Center is hosting a Gift Card Drive for children waiting on placement.
We are asking for donations of:
🎁 Food gift cards (fast food, grocery stores)
🎁 Clothing gift cards (Walmart, Dollar General, etc.)
🎁 Essentials (gas stations, pharmacies)
🎁 Small comfort options (restaurants, snacks, basic needs)
These children often arrive with very little.
A simple gift card can mean a warm meal, clean clothes, or just a small sense of normal during a really hard time.
This is something we can do together as a community.
Every card. Every share. Every act of kindness matters.
👉 If you’d like to donate, message us or drop off at Booker’s Place. We will be collecting gift cards all month and will get all donations to the local DHS office at the end of the month.
Our goal is 50 gift cards!!! Help us make it happen!
