For the 2026 Virginia Cocktail Games, Adam created Tavern's Harvest Sour, a seasonal take on a classic cocktail that celebrates the fleeting flavors of Virginia's harvest. By capturing ingredients at their peak and preserving them in every pour, the drink reflects how special moments and flavors can be enjoyed long after the season has passed.

Featuring Springfield Distillery's Blackberry Scratch Whiskey, the cocktail showcases fresh seasonal ingredients in a refreshing sour, creating a vibrant tribute to Virginia's farms, orchards and the timeless appeal of a well-crafted classic.

Tavern’s Harvest Sour Recipe

2 oz Springfield Blackberry Scratch Whiskey
0.75 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
0.75 oz Fig Syrup
2 dashes Orange Bitters
1 Egg White

Garnish: Fresh Rosemary Stem, Blackberry and Lemon Wheel

Method: Add all ingredients to a shaker and dry shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. Add ice and shake again until the shaker is well chilled. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a rosemary sprig, fresh blackberry and lemon wheel.

For the 2026 Virginia Cocktail Games, Kristen created Ageless Apex at the Oak, a cocktail that bridges centuries of history with the fast-paced excitement of Virginia International Raceway. Inspired by the 1840 Oak Tree Tavern and classic cocktail traditions, the drink celebrates how history and innovation can exist side by side.

Featuring Springfield Distillery's Blackberry Scratch Whiskey, the cocktail builds on a timeless Manhattan variation with ingredients rooted in centuries-old traditions, including Bénédictine and sweet vermouth. The result is a refined cocktail that honors Virginia's rich past while embracing the precision and energy of the racetrack.

Ageless Apex at the Oak Recipe

2 oz Springfield Blackberry Scratch Whiskey
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
0.25 oz Apricot Jam (about 1 heaping bar spoon)
1 bar spoon Botanical Brandy Liqueur (e.g. Bénédictine)
3 dashes Black Walnut Bitters

Garnish: Flamed Orange Peel, Peach Slice and a Blackberry on a Cocktail Pick

Method: Chill a coupe or martini glass. In a mixing glass, combine the whiskey, sweet vermouth, apricot jam, Bénédictine and black walnut bitters. Fill the mixing glass about three-quarters full with ice and stir for 30 seconds until well chilled. Strain into the chilled glass. Garnish with a flamed orange peel, a peach slice and a blackberry on a cocktail pick.
