A WWII Navy vet looking for his place in postwar Allentown, Vince started a steak shop in the basement of his father's home at 7th and Union in 1957. Our blend of permanent locations and mobile units started then, perhaps best exemplified by the growth of our concession business in the 1980s and 90s under Vince Jr.'s leadership, all while maintaining the area's only fast-serve double drive-through express, formerly located at 15th and Allen Streets in Allentown. took over the family business in the mid-70s and grew the regional base through concession stands and new concepts, including our popular (and currently retired) Chicken Finger concession and our thriving Pennsylvania German brand, Das Wurst Haus, a specialty sausage destination at the annual Kutztown Folk Festival. Your support of that event and your annual visits at the Allentown and Bloomsburg Fairs and other regional events continue to mean the world to us. In 2008, Vince opened a new location on Mill Creek Road near Trexlertown and was blessed to meet a new clientele alongside many long-time customers with memories of Water Street (the alley off of 7th and Union), Walbert Avenue (home of the former Vince's Drive-In, a popular destination in the 1960s and 70s) and "The Shop" at 15th and Allen. We closed the Mill Creek location in September of 2014 to focus on our core concepts and relocating to a new venue where we can serve longtime friends alongside new Lehigh Valley transplants and visitors coming to enjoy all our region has to offer. and the Vince's story were recently featured in an in-depth piece in Lehigh Valley Business Journal. Our story mirror's the City's: the Water Street location was forced to close during the first wave of redevelopment in the early 70s. The idea that redevelopment could bring us back to our roots is compelling, and we look forward to the next phase in our company's history, and in our history with you, our friends and patrons.
