About our closing the business, and questions about parking, let me reassure you all. It's true the parking on the side of the building was a little restricted, but you have to understand IT WAS THE POST OFFICE'S PARKING LOT, and the space they allowed us on our side of the building was by very generous permission (they had no obligation), and the restrictions were there only to assure that their drivers could get the postal trucks in and out to do their job.
I can tell you my relations with the post office were good, and it has nothing to do with our closing. It's true very rarely a postal driver might have come into the restaurant and complained about the parking, but the fact is, it was their space, and he was doing his job, and my business temporarily inconvenienced him, and I think he was very patient and generous in the whole thing. The Postmaster in Cookeville handled the issue, in the end, with top quality gentlemanliness. Honestly, it wasn't much of an issue for very long.
While on the subject, you should all know that Keith Morrison, the Algood City Manager, was an excellent intermediary during the Post Office parking lot problems, and a great help getting the business started.
And last, but definitely not least, we always had abundant overflow parking across the street at the Methodist Church, who generously permitted us to park our customers there. I am grateful to them for their hospitality, and I'm even seriously considering attending one of their Sunday services, just out of curiosity! 😆
