Sometimes life gives you a little reminder of why you do what you do. I have to honest and say the past few years have been a little trying for me personally. Even though I have tried to shut it all out of my life, the past 10 years have worn on me when it comes to how we treat each other in society. The filters our parents encouraged us to have when speaking to others have been ripped away. It has been sad to witness.
However, this week has been a great week. Several guests have stopped me on the dining room (or patio) floor to tell me how much Pike and Pint means to them. The warm, friendly staff. The cozy atmosphere. The tasty food. As I was walking the floor today I had... a... moment. I looked out upon our patio through a bar window. I saw two separate tables of women breaking bread together and they were all smiling and laughing. I probably could see this every day, but today it hit me hard. This is why I do what I do. I could probably make more money in some other career, but I chose the restaurant world for a reason. It is so gratifying to provide the opportunity for people to gather and have a great time together. Somewhere along the line I stopped appreciating this. Well the light switch has been turned back on. All of us at Pike do greatly appreciate the moments you all give us everyday. God obviously steered me to this moment, as it was what I truly needed to witness. What seems like a small thing can so often be a BIG thing. To those who lift me everyday and to those who impacted me so greatly this week, I thank you!
