On Saturday we catered a lovely Christmas party for the Keefe family, longtime clients of Charlene’s!

The party was the FULL Charlene Experience. Charlene went above and beyond designing the buffet table, bars, and even decked out their back porch with Christmas trees, string lights, blankets, and pillows!

The menu featured mini smithfield ham biscuits, veal beef balls, grilled spiced shrimp, mini lump crab cakes, sundried tomato and goat cheese tarts, mini avocado toasts, mini turkey sandwiches, crudités, and a beautiful cheese and fruit board on a live edge (rented from Charlene’s Vault). For dessert, Charlene made mini lime cupcakes and chocolate white chocolate chip cookies.

In addition to the two bars, Charlene also had a hot cider station with homemade cider spiked with bourbon!

The Keefe party was a fabulous way to end the 2019 Christmas season! We hope everyone had a great holiday season.

Charlene’s regular client, Alice Fisher, hosted her annual Christmas party on Friday. Charlene brought all of her vintage glasses and silver trays for the bar, as well as the platters, plates, and votives on the table. The table cloth and tables were rented from SelectEvents. The menu included mini crab cakes, avocado toast, sun dried tomato goat cheese tarts, mini BLTs, butternut squash sweet potato latkes, little tenderloin sandwiches, a crudité platter, baked brie with bourbon maple pecan, and smoky eggplant dip. It’s always nice working with you, Alice!

Look at these pictures from a beautiful Christmas work party last Monday! Charlene designed the table with classic Christmas colors using all items from her vault, since it was a Charlene Experience party. She even brought in elements from outside with the live garland and moss. The menu featured warm brie phyllo cups, white sweet potato latkes with smoked salmon, beef bourguignon with pappardelle pasta, garlic sautéed spinach, and a lemon cake with raspberries for dessert. So delicious! All of Charlene’s vintage glasses, silver trays, and pitcher at the bar were also rented from the vault. We love seeing their dogs, Darla and Matilda, too.

This beautiful Christmas party was hosted by a wonderful client in DC, last Sunday. There were so many pretty details. The tent was rented from @sugarplumtents and all of the vintage glassware, silver trays, votives, platters, and cheese knives were rented from Charlene’s Vault, since it was a Charlene Experience party! The items on the menu were lobster lettuce wraps, white sweet potato latkes, warm brie phyllo cups, hot crab dip, grilled beef tenderloin, honey rosemary sauce, green, white + red crudité platter, spinach artichoke stuffed mushrooms, bacon-wrapped dates, mini BLTs, a cheese platter, and polenta canapés. For dessert, the guests enjoyed lime cupcakes, gluten free white chocolate chip cookies, and lemon bars. The stunning wreath on the door was a boxwood wreath with fresh roses. All of the greenery and wreaths were done by @enchantedfloristva. Charlene loves working with Mary in her beautiful home!

Another gorgeous Christmas party by Charlene and her team! This party was hosted by our regular clients, Virginia and Richard Banchoff, last Saturday. Virginia picked up the centerpiece from the farmers market but felt it was lacking something, so Charlene raised it up and added the glittered babies breath, bird, and sticks to make it look like the bird was nesting. Virginia loved it! This was a Charlene Experience party, so Charlene brought all the vintage glasses, platters, plates, and red/green table cloths from the vault. The twinkle lights outside were also brought from Charlene’s vault. The menu included mini lump crab cakes, grilled spiced shrimp, mini ham biscuits, a crudité platter, veal beef balls, sesame chicken tea sandwiches, mini BLTs, a cheese platter, and a whole grilled beef tenderloin. What a lovely traditional Christmas party! In Virginia’s own words she said, “it was the party of the century” for her and Richard. A lot of Charlene’s long time clients were at this party, which made it even more special!

Our long time client, Jessica Killin, hosted her annual office/staff Christmas party last Thursday and it was beautiful! This was a Charlene Experience party, so Charlene designed the gorgeous table scape with items from the vault featuring Jessica’s custom ornament name cards. We love the classic Christmas look with the tartan plaid accents. Jessica’s pants matched perfectly! The items on the menu included spinach stuffed mushrooms, crispy crab stuffed mushrooms, chicken madeira, wild rice with cranberries & pomegranate seeds, asparagus + green beans with whipped sweet potato purée, a caesar salad, and mixed grilled vegetables. For dessert, there were lemon bars, cupcakes, and brownies. The guests also enjoyed our strawberry pink peppercorn shrub to drink. Their dogs even came out to say hello!😍 These beautiful pictures were shot by Victoria Heer Photography

Delicious!

Suzie and Chuck’s wedding weekend begins! They kicked off the celebration with a welcome party. Suzie actually used to work for Charlene, so that made this event extra special. Some of Suzie’s favorite items on the menu included curry chicken pita pockets, classic deviled eggs, and grilled shrimp to name a few. They also had a strawberry pink peppercorn shrub and ginger pear shrub to drink. Wishing you two all the best!

Here’s what Suzie’s mom, Chris, had to say about the party:

“Just a note to say thank you for another wonderful event! Tonight’s dinner was just perfect - something for every carnivore and vegan in the group - and everything was absolutely delicious! (As usual!).

Jessica and Taylor were great - they set up a beautiful table (it worked out well on the round kitchen table) and made great mock-tails with the shrubs - which could be my new favorite thing.

It was a great start to our wedding weekend and everyone had a wonderful time.

Look at these beautiful bar set ups from a Christmas party last weekend! Charlene loves to mix different heights and textures. The live edge board and plant stand are both custom pieces that are new to the vault this holiday season. Charlene had the live edge board cut in Pennsylvania and painted it white. She found the plant stand at a flea market and sanded it down and painted it white. We also love the mixture of the different glasses and the added detail of the gold antlers. The custom antique dresser can be used many different ways. Charlene used it as the second bar set up and it turned out beautifully! Everything from the bar was rented from Charlene’s vault. Take a look at this beautiful party in a beautiful home! Regular clients, Kirsten and Peter Chadwick hosted a wonderful Christmas party last Friday. Charlene rented the small plates, forks, glasses, and table cloths from Select Event Group. The gorgeous platters came from Charlene’s vault. The menu featured deviled eggs with lump crab, veal beef balls, beef tenderloin lettuce wraps, little chicken salad cocktail sandwiches, a Christmas crudité, and a Christmas cheese board with savory cabbage and lingonberries. Charlene did her white chocolate cookies with peppermint crunch, William Sonoma peppermint bark, and chocolate strawberries with peppermint crunch for dessert. There was also a cranberry shrub served with rye Knob Creek bourbon to drink. Kirsten served champagne and red wine, as well. You can also see some of the cranberries used as table decor!

Last night Charlene and her team catered an office Christmas party for new client, Rebecca Villane. Guests enjoyed a few fan favorites; including, Charlene’s specialty crab cakes and chicken skewers. Their adorable dog, Layla, even came out to say hi! How cute is her sweater? 😍

Here is what Rebecca had to say about last night:

Hi Charlene,
I hope this email brings a smile to your face, and acknowledgement that you have a truly exceptional business, if you didn’t already know! I was absolutely thrilled by the food (incredible), the organization, the ENTIRE party was outstanding. Jessica and Taylor were so friendly and professional; they had such a great energy. They took matters into their own hands right away, keeping things aesthetically amazing (magazine-worthy, really!), keeping our guests with drinks and food in hand, and my kitchen was actually cleaner when they left. They also were so sweet to my dog, Layla. Coincidentally, she had a Christmas sweater on that coordinated with the ladies’ aprons. It was just so cute!
This was the first time my husband and I have had a catered event in our home so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Without question, I will call you the next time we do anything like this. I cannot sing your praises, and the praises of Jessica and Taylor enough! It was a best-in-class display and I am so glad we got to work together. I have effectively run out of positive adjectives to describe the whole evening; it was perfect.

We can’t wait to work with you again, Rebecca! 😊

You don’t want to miss the 25% off mixed case price at Balducci’s! This sales event happens monthly towards the middle of the month, so this year the date is December 14th. Take advantage of this super savings for all your holiday events. You can mix up a case however you’d like. Great for those bottles you’ve been wanting to try! These are some of Charlene’s favorites. Cheers🍾

On Veteran’s Day, Charlene and her team catered another fundraiser. This fundraiser was for Senator Mark Warner and was hosted by Paul and Bridget Romness in their home. Senator Warner served as the Governor of Virginia from 2002-2006 and is now fulfilling his second term as a U.S. senator. Even Senator John Warner came out to show his support. The guests enjoyed Charlene’s classic ham biscuits and curry chicken pita pockets. Every customer of Charlene’s has a favorite!

Last Sunday Charlene and her team catered a fundraiser in the home of clients, Frank and Hillary Stiff. The fundraiser was for the Alexandria Tutoring Consortium- a non-profit organization, directed by Lisa Jacobs, that recruits and trains volunteers to tutor basic reading skills to kindergarten and first grade public school students who are struggling in reading. Which Frank Stiff seats on their board. Some items on the menu included stuffed mushrooms, tea sandwiches, goat cheese tarts, beef tenderloin canapés, ham biscuits, BLTs, and a pimento cheese spread.

Here is what Frank and Hillary had to say about Charlene and her team,

“If we ever had a party without Charlene and her team I am not sure anyone would show up. We got so many compliments about the food, the bartending, how well everything is managed and especially Charlene’s ham biscuits, BLTs, and her pimento cheese spread! It has gotten to the point that I needed to ask Charlene for a pile of her business cards as everyone wants to “steal” her. Jessica and Taylor are totally indispensable as well. PRO TIP: Charlene let’s us book a year in advance. The Monday after our annual holiday party we lock her in for the following year. That way there is no risk of losing her to a competing event at what is a very busy time of year. We then rest easy knowing that we will have another seamless event, with delicious, unique and beautiful food.”

We love happy clients!😊

Backyard weddings are in! This lovely wedding celebration took place in the backyard of first time client Rochelle Gray’s home. The details made the gathering feel cozy and elegant. The tablecloths, glasses, trays, rug, and floral arrangements were apart of the Charlene Experience. The menu featured ham biscuits, mini crab cakes, fresh farm market salad, a spinach, tomato + quinoa casserole, lox platter, bacon, corn, and sh*take egg casserole, and Charlene’s special Bloody Mary mix. The calligraphy work was done by Queen Street Calligraphy. Congratulations to Jessica and Eric! We wish you all the best.😊

Last night Charlene catered a fall dinner party for long time client and friend, Anne Beverly. Anne Beverly did a lovely job setting the dinner table! Her thanksgiving tree was also beautifully done. The menu featured grilled beef tenderloin, lump crab cakes, scalloped potatoes, garlic green beans, and a salad consisting of butter bib lettuce, pomegranate seeds, almonds, pears, and a champagne vinaigrette. Last but certainly not least, a delicious apple crumble and the Italian creme cake we posted about yesterday were served for dessert! The guests also enjoyed an espresso martini to drink.

Pictures from last nights cocktail party! Our lovely client chose the flowers and Charlene worked her magic on the rest of the set up. The menu featured some of our signature items; such as, lobster rolls, crab cakes, and BLTs. The beautiful wood boards used for the artisan cheese spread are from Charlene’s vault. Before the event, Charlene did an on site visit at the clients home and discovered a beautiful magnolia tree in her backyard. The lights were a perfect way to highlight the tree while also adding a nice ambiance in the backyard. Charlene created this experience with items from her vault. So dreamy!✨
