Break cabin fever with a new tea routine!

Now is the perfect time to pick up a great everyday habit—whether you brew an energizing cup to start your day or a soothing cup to end your night. There is something about the routine of brewing tea that can be very beneficial for the mind—choosing the type, preparing the leaves, boiling the water, and waiting to get the perfect steep. The ritual of making tea for oneself (and others) can be very rewarding.

In the morning, tea can be a great way to get that caffeine fix (especially with a high L-theanine content) but the routine of it can be just as important regardless of your caffeine preferences! Starting your day with a cup of tea means taking a moment for yourself and can make mornings something to look forward to and enjoy rather than dread. Prepping the night before by filling the kettle with water, bringing out your favorite cup or infuser will help ensure a smooth morning.

At night, a cup of tea can be the perfect way to slow down and find a moment of relaxation after a hectic day out in the world. There are many blends without any caffeine, such as rooibos and fruit tisanes, though those with a higher caffeine tolerance might like a nice white tea instead. Whatever your taste, prepare a nice warm cup and get cozy so you can spend the end of the day reading a book, watching a tv show, or even playing lowkey video game. This evening ritual can help you relax—and so can the tea!

Brewing tea is not just something to start and end the day with, it can also be a great way to refocus yourself even during a busy day! If you are someone who likes multiple cups throughout the day, try a tea like oolong or another type of rolled tea, which can be steeped multiple times. When the tea leaves are tightly rolled, each brew can bring out different flavor characteristics so you can enjoy multiple cups of the same tea!

Making the Tea Routine Yours

One of the wonderful things about tea is that there are many ways to customize the experience and there are different teas and tools for everyone’s preference, time, and pace! Feel free to tailor your tea routine to your life and your tastes—the best cup of tea is ultimately the one you enjoy!

Here are some tips to get you started with this new habit:

Designate a space to make your tea and keep your brewing equipment—don't worry, you don't need a large area, just enough to keep all your essentials. Less clutter means less stress, and it also makes it easier to brew your perfect cup without other items getting in your way. This helps streamline the process and cut down on the time if you are in a hurry.

If you are pressed for time but still want a cup—fear not! There are plenty of ways to speed up your routine: Boil just the amount of water you need to make your tea. Less water means less wait! You can also double the amount of tea and brew for half the time, and as a bonus, you can brew the leaves again for a cup later.

If you do have the time, lean into the process, and take the time to slow down and ground yourself. There is a reason so many cultures have tea ceremonies—many that include multiple steeps and rounds! Even if you are just having your daily cup, there are good lessons to take from the ceremonial styles, such as intention, mindfulness, and tranquility. You can incorporate these things as you prepare and drink your tea, even without the formal framework and equipment. Make the tea routine yours and let yourself discover what it means to you!

Looking for a New Year's Resolution -

How about a healthy tea habit?

January is National Hot Tea Month and the perfect time to pick up a great everyday habit—whether you brew an energizing cup to start your day or a soothing cup to end your night. There are so many reasons that people drink tea—and just as many types and ways to make it! So, whether you are in it for the caffeine, or lack thereof, or simply just enjoy a delicious drink, find your perfect tea routine this year!

How Drinking Tea Can Benefit Your

Body and Mind?

Whether you are a first-time tea-drinker or a seasoned enjoyer, a healthy beverage like tea is not just about what is good for your body, but also about what is good for your mind--and there are many ways that tea can help both!

Tea is well-known as a source of caffeine, but did you know that tea also contains L-theanine? L-theanine is an amino acid that works with the caffeine to produce a more calming energy boost than caffeine alone. Matcha and other green teas that have a high content of L-theanine are great for focus and alertness without the energy crash that many experience with just the caffeine.

The benefits are not limited to green teas, however, there are many ways that drinking herbal blends can be good for you as well. For example, if you are looking for an immune system boost during this cold stretch, consider hibiscus, which is high in antioxidants like vitamin C! There are many fruit tisane blends that feature hibiscus so those are a great place to start. If hibiscus is not your thing, you can also try blends with ginger, echinacea, or elderberries. There are many herbs that can help our bodies in different ways and brewing those into tea blends is a convenient and tasty way to get those benefits!
