Last night, I was lucky enough to attend Ilium Brewing's grand opening in Troy! A beautifully renovated spot on Fulton St. with its own freshly brewed beers and wonderful handcrafted cocktails. The Melrose Porter, RBF Mexican Lager, and Blood Orange Paloma were the hits of the evening. I also had the chance to sample their pub pretzel, served with your choice of mustard or hot honey, a fantastic snack while enjoying your beverage. A little smaller in size than most breweries but has a cool vibe with a great group behind the bar. I'll happily return soon for a longer visit.

Treehouse Brewing is officially open in Saratoga NY, and I was lucky enough to be there on day 2!!! The building is beautiful and the people who work there are exceptional. I had wonderful interactions with Nick on the bar, Angie in the spirits store, and Cameron in the merch store who happens to be on loan from the Deerfield location. I also need to give a special shout-out to Scooter in to-go who really went out of his way to help a girl out. I don't know how Treehouse does it but they genuinely do have some of the most lovely people for employees. Taproom is open Sun-W 12-9, Th-Sat 12-10. Curbside order pick-ups stop one hour before closing time. Cheers!!

I had been hearing great things about Transcend Beer Crafters https://www.transcendbeer.com/ in Southington Connecticut for months. So a few weeks ago when I found myself in the neighborhood, I popped in for a visit. They only do to-go's right now, but samples of in-stock cans are available. I was lucky enough to taste Pastry Shoppe Black Raspberry Blueberry Pie A la Mode Sour part of their Pastry Shoppe Series and Riwaka Vaporwaves DIPA which is part of a rotating series of Hazy DIPAs.

The Pastry Shoppe was a near-perfect balance of sour and sweet with a delicious cinnamon undertone. This one came home with me, and damn I wish I had grabbed more than one 4-pack!

The Riwaka Vaporwaves, a hazy juicy delight with a slightly bitter finish found its way into my car cooler as well.

Transcend is making quite a name for themselves and I'm here to tell you the rumors are true! They'll be expanding within the next year to a taproom one town over in Plainville, CT. An almost two-hour drive for me, but for these brews I will be back again, and again.
