We have lost our multi-talented, charismatic, amazing chef on August 20th. Warlie was a beautiful, unselfish soul. He was one of the main building blocks of our Shiro's family. Through his strength and character, we were able to achieve so much. All of us are struggling with this gaping hole in our hearts. With his wicked sense of humor and boundless energy, we were able to laugh and joke through what should have been horrendously stressful days with hundreds of catering orders to fill. He was our Rock of Gibraltar - always there and always steadfast. He shared his recipes and skills freely with his subordinates, pushing them to succeed. He was generous to a fault - constantly sending money to the Philippines to help out family and good friends.

We have cried so many tears because he was taken so suddenly. He was fully vaccinated and DID NOT HAVE COVID. His heart just gave out.

Please take a moment to honor Warlie. He was a great man, a great person and a dear friend. We will miss him forever............

Rest in peace, dear Warlie!!!

COVID is real and is an evil issue that all of us have to deal with. Nobody can dispute personal opinions or choices. This is why the decision on the COVID vaccination issue has been so delayed. It is obvious that the current vaccination percentages and safety measures are not working. This is why we have recently announced that all employees need to get vaccinated by the end of September or submit a weekly negative COVID test to remain on the schedule. Nothing is set in stone and exemptions will be made. We support freedom of choice. And we will not stop searching for other effective alternatives. We need to get out of this pandemic state. We need to stop this division. Yes COVID may not be deadly to all but it is different in that it hides undetected for a period of time. It also needs the majority to kick it’s butt. COVID can’t and will not beat us. Understand that we as a company or anybody responsible for others’ safety does not have the luxury of thinking as an individual. However at Shiro’s we also try to understand all perspectives and put our personal opinions aside. Whether this is the right or wrong decision is besides the point. We each need to do something to get out of this. Providing a safe and comfortable establishment for our employees and customers is what we are trying to do. Nothing else. Please be safe and remember that we are all in this together!

Dear Small Business Owners and All Other Hardworking Customer Service Peeps,

Normally we work long hours, often dealing with employee and customer issues.
Now we have “the lack of inventory, logistical and staffing blues.”
Add the constant change in regulation and safety measures…it’s enough to drive you insane!
But it does not help to feel sorry for yourself or to sit back and play the blame game.
Not a lot of things in life come with ease.
Sometimes you gotta power through and roll up your sleeves.
Have faith that things will be better and concentrate on what lies ahead.
Recognition, positive reinforcement and praise is as good as sliced bread.
Have confidence in yourself and appreciate your crew.
And do onto others as you would have them do onto you.

Mahalo,

Bryce “Saimin Jr.”

Dear Hearts,
There are few things more frustrating than a lack of appreciation.
However it is sometimes important to look into the causation.
Not everybody is raised the same or has the same core morals or beliefs.
Try not to expect thanks, and you will avoid a lot of future beefs.
Do something because you know it is the right thing to do.
Take note of how you feel when the reaction happens...
And do onto others as you would have them do onto you!
We need to try and break the chain of inconsideration!!

Mahalo,

Bryce "Saimin Jr."

Dear Hearts,

You do not need to give material things to show that you care.
You can write a card, do yardwork, or wash dirty underwear.
It is the right thing to do to appreciate those who love and care for you.
Take a moment to give back for all that you put another through.

Mahalo,

Bryce "Saimin Jr."

Dear Hearts,

We understand during these crazy times that some people may be stressed out.
Providing a place to relax and enjoy to good food is what we are all about.
But please understand that we are not back to normal yet - everything takes more time.
Safety procedures and replacing inventory can't be accomplished on the drop of a dime.
Catering orders and large takeout orders need to be placed with advanced notification.
We will be happy to answer any and all questions for further clarification.
We cannot pump out catering trays in 15-20 minutes, and we are not fast food.
It takes time to do things right and a lot of effort to maintain a good mood.
Our staff is trying our best and accomplish incredible things with style.
We do appreciate all of your support and am grateful and blessed to even have this issue arise.
But sometimes it is good to understand and see things through other peoples' eyes.

Mahalo,

Bryce "Saimin Jr."

Dear Hearts,

Now that I am a parent, the time for patience and understanding is here.
Raising a child plus managing others have made some things very clear.
One of the hardest things to do is to sit by and let others make mistakes.
You see what will unfold, want to say something but need to put on the brakes.
Preventing your child or anyone from falling also prohibits them to grow.
Learning how to dig oneself out of a situation is very important to know.
Unfortunately you shouldn't be seen as the "easy button" in life.
Sometimes everyone has to power through the struggle and strife.

Mahalo,

Bryce "Saimin Jr"

We are all sad to see a Hawaii manstay like Love’s Bakery closing. They provided nothing but excellent product and service to us and the rest of the island. However we are proud to announce that we are now working with a locally owned and family run company just like us! Hawaii Star Bakery now provides us with nothing but freshly made buns and breads. Here are some of the offerings that we have using their awesome product! It tastes even better when local supports local! #hawaiistarbakery #shirossaimin #supportlocal #familybusiness #clubhouse #groovyburga #beegshiro

Don’t forget about the single use plastic ban starting Thursday, April 1st! Starting on this date restaurants are required to charge for each bag given out. The cost will be $0.35 per paper bag and $1.50 for our logo’d reusable tote bags. Please get in the habit of treating us just like a grocery store. Bring your own bag or cardboard box to avoid the bag fee and help save the environment in the process. We are also switching to compostable utensils and straws. For takeout, all condiments and utensils will be upon request with no additional charges. But please, take only what you need. The whole goal of this plastic ban is to cut down on trash and to help save our oceans! #shirossaimin #savetheoceans🌊 #noswingthebagaroundwithhotsaimininside

We also still use local ground beef, make our patties every shift, and make the gravy the “Old-fashioned” way with drippings and a vegetable medley. Dear Hearts,

Celebrating traditions and holidays allows us to take a minute to reflect, remember and appreciate.
Right now it is challenging to do so in large parties, so use your imagination to manipulate or abbreviate.
During this pandemic it is especially important to try and keep traditions alive.
For a small amount of time they enable us to forget our troubles and to thrive!

Dear Hearts,

No matter what difficulties each day may bring,
It is important to always try to do the right thing.
It doesn't matter if nobody else follows,
Or if there is an easier way.
You are the only one that has to live
With yourself at the end of the day.

Dear Hearts,

2021 is here and we are all happy to celebrate the new year!
One thing 2020 has taught us is that we have to make our priorities clear.
Appreciate what you have because nothing comes easily nowadays.
Assist those in need - you can often help in many different ways.
Educate to avoid fear, be true to yourself and learn from your mistakes.
When life gets too hectic, try to schedule some short, uninterrupted breaks.
Be there for your fam, friends and community no matter what the weather.
And always remember...WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!!

All businesses should go online and fill out this City and County of Honolulu survey to assess how businesses are dealing with safety assessments and also how businesses are doing economically during these tough times. Now is the time to give your input and make meaningful suggestions to improve the City's response to business needs. For your help in completing the survey, the City will gift you a huge box of much needed PPE supplies! The safety bundle that they send is no joke! These valuable PPE supplies will boost your morale and make you feel supported. Thank you to Mayor Caldwell and the C & C of Honolulu for the "Back on the Wave" program to fight COVID-19 and for trying to keep our community safe!!

We received two slightly different boxes for our Waimalu and Ewa Beach location. Check it out!

Welcome back!! We are happy to announce the reopening of our sit down restaurant tomorrow!! In order to comply with Mayor Caldwell’s Mandate there will be some changes in safety guidelines:
Customers will have to wear masks when entering, while inside (except when eating or drinking) and when exiting the property. Customers will also have to make reservations and 1 person representing the party needs to provide contact info (name, phone number and address). We will be happy to answer any questions that you may have about this last policy. These are definitely strange times but we all are trying to do what we can to power through! Hope to see you soon!! #shirossaimin #supportlocal #supportsmallbusiness #familybusiness #foodagogohawaii

Dear Hearts,
Some people think they know whatsup based solely on what they see.
Take for example a customer screaming and cursing like a wild banshee.
Most would think that this person is just a jerk.
But who knows? Maybe he just got laid off from work?
Don't assume that you know
Or you will fail to grow.
Have the desire to discover in a calm fashion.
And for crying out loud have some compassion!

Mahalo,
