Byrd's Pecans was started by Vernon Byrd who had a passionate dream about wanting to raise pecans and wanted everyone to enjoy them. He began this with a farm he bought in the 60's and then a store west of Butler that was purchased a few short years later. Since the day he passed the family has worked to fill his shoes and continue with his dreams. Before he passed, he shared with each of his kids

and grandkids what he would like for them to do individually in order to continue moving forward with the business. This store is the beginning to filling that promise I made to my Grandpa a few years ago... I started with a tiny shop on Main Street only selling things that involved pecans - candied pecans, different flavors of pecan pies, and some bakery items. Since 2014, my business plan has changed immensely and grown thanks to all our followers and we had to move to a bigger building to make it happen! We still have all the original candied pecans & different flavors of pecan pies but we now also make our own vanilla homemade ice cream, we have a full breakfast & lunch/dinner menu, and are in the process of expanding our bakery items. I just recently completed my degree in culinary & pastry arts and have been experimenting like crazy with delicious bakery items to work on filling our bakery case. I want to offer multiple things under one roof but I also want folks to come on in, sit down their phone, kick their feet up (not literally 😉) and connect with each other just like the good 'ol days. Play some checkers or a card game while you chat over a cup of coffee, dessert, or meal and stay a while.

Vernon Byrd didn’t always live in Missouri. He shared a story about his childhood of when he was just a young lad. He was very athletic and played a little league game of baseball against a famous baseball player. Who do you think it was?
