12 SEP 1897. BATTLE OF SARAGARHI. Where 21 Sikhs fought fiercelessly against 10000 Afghans for 6.5 hours till the last man. One of the battles fought last man last round. There can’t be a better example of courage & tenacity. Each man fought like a warrior possessed with unparalleled fierceness and fervour. Laying down their lives in the line of duty. No drama no pretense just soldiery of the highest order. I bow my head in profound reverence to those heroes. The battle and supreme heroism of these warriors must remind the world that Indian Soldiers when lead well are the ultimate beasts of battle field unmatched in courage & ferocity. These battles should be studied by all offrs, soldiers and should be in the history books of schools. All will never be fortunate to appear in the ultimate test but at least would appreciate and cherish deeply the breed of men who are soldiers by choice.
