北美目前爆發的 Cyclospora(環孢子蟲) 疫情,加上過去幾年的 Listeria(李斯特菌) 食安事件,讓北美進口蔬菜的風險越來越令人擔憂。
Between the current Cyclospora parasite outbreak and past Listeria scares, North American produce has become a game of regulatory roulette.
For those that are unaware, vegetables, especially leafy greens can be contaminated with animal runoff. It requires strict regulation to ensure that outbreaks like these don’t happen and transparency and quick action when they do.
There have been a few outbreaks over the years, so in light of the deregulatory push in the US we are taking precautionary measures to pull any imported vegetables from North America off the menu. Fortunately that only includes romaine, so for our salads we are replacing it with locally grown Taiwanese kale. Personally, I like the kale better anyway!
