From the trains to virtually every street in Taiwan, you will at some time almost certainly come across the lunch box (also known as bento, or "bee-en dang" in Chinese. This was the first Taiwanese food I tried here. Basically, it's an all-in-one meal in a cardboard box, containing meat, two or three side dishes and rice. As a fitness and diet conscious guy I feel this is the best proportion of Protein, carb and veggies(though some lunch box exceeds 900 calories..lol).

I read few articles to learn the history of this bento of Taiwan!!The most famous lunch box in Taiwan is served by the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA: the regular inter-city train system). These lunch boxes have a special place in the hearts of much Taiwanese and have been served since 1949, pretty much keeping their original flavor to this day. The most classic form is pork cooked in a special sauce, a hard boiled egg, rice, vegetables and famously, a pickle. They are also available at many train stations and convenience stores too.

I wanna compare the typical south –Indian lunch which looks similar to this bento. But.. But it’s not as compact as Taiwan lunch box.It looks colorful right?! haha, it's delicious too. I have a detail and separate article about this menu. Is that time-consuming? Yes! Not just to write about them also it needs more time to prepare. So, This type of menu is eaten only in restaurant and not as compact to pack like Taiwan lunch box.So what do we eat at home or lunch box at school /office? It's almost the same, only the number of menus is reduced according to mom /wife’s choice.( Indians mostly eat home made food by mom or Wife)

Diverse, flavourful, wholesome and healthy cooking is the norm in many Indian households. Scientists have proved that Indian food tastes so good because of the use of clashing flavors that create a sensory explosion quite unlike that of any other cuisine. It may not make sense, but it tastes damn good for a scientific reason. Most of the Indian lunch is filed with curry-Veggies –rice which is most common scenario..The number of bowls you see in picture varies from to 1 to many depends on from poor to rich. The meat falls into that extreme category, even sometimes it’s not included for a religious reason. Still, the protein intake comes from the Cereals, pulses, legumes etc. Though I love my Indian food I appreciate and enjoy eating this balanced diet- affordable for the whole community.

Any foreigner will face the question ‘Do you like Taiwan? Why?’ I always answer them Taiwanese are more cultured and disciplined people. Yeah, This community has a museum for ‘lunch box’ wowwwwwwwwwww!!!!!I am happy to visit the Chishang Lunchbox Museum which displayed the evolvement and history of lunchboxes, the side dishes, traditional kitchen stoves, farming tools, and utensils. Here visitors are taken back in the time of Japanese ruling when the first Chihshang lunchbox was made.
