透過料理，領略作家的精神和經歷；藉由廚房，探訪臺中人的生活樣貌──這是「櫟舍文學餐廳」的重要初衷。
　
「櫟舍文學餐廳」坐落「臺中文學館」內，原為 1932 年完工的日本警察宿舍，2009 年登錄歷史建築，隔年進行古蹟修繕工程；如今，飄散淡雅檜木味的日式建築正臥於百年老榕寬厚的樹傘下，安穩又扎實的，與柳川和第五市場為鄰。
　
我們於 2017 年 8 月 15 日開放試營運，提供文學餐（第一季為散文類型餐、陳千武文學主題餐、楊逵野菜鹹派）、小山園抹茶等飲品及冰品；同時，舉辦作家廚房、作家午茶、文學沙龍、茶道課、花道課等活動，希望這棟老屋仍有人依照它原本的樣子在作息。
