Kettle Brew Café is coming to Tobago for the month of August!!

Kettle Brew built a friendship with Speyside Café during 2021. I had gone to the café for breakfast because, as a small business, you enjoy supporting other small businesses. That morning, I met Tony, the owner of Speyside Lookout Café. He had no menu; he just asked me what I wanted. I told him I’d do some eggs. He said “no problem,” and I helped him open up the most beautiful café that morning.

I told Tony about Kettle Brew, showed him pictures, and shared our vision. He left me to set up the café, since he now knew I had the expertise, and went out to get the goods for my order. That morning, he prepared scrambled eggs, toast, a cucumber salad, some slices of cheese, and then went out to his garden at the back of his home and picked fresh citrus to make me a juice.

There were no thrills and frills here, no mise en place — just passion, presence, and authenticity.

We sat together that morning and bonded. A person so simple, embracing life in freedom and moderation. I rocked in that hammock after and took in that cool Speyside breeze. I told Tony how much I admired his way of life, and I promised to one day return to Tobago and help him in his café.

A year passed by, and Tony called asking if I was ever going to visit Tobago again, or stay true to my promise to collaborate.

When we decided to close our doors this year, it wasn’t to pause — it was to expand in spirit, to follow peace and purpose. This August, we’re bringing the heart of Kettle Brew to Speyside — and with Tony’s authenticity, we’re offering something truly magical. At Speyside Café, we felt peace. And we hope, with our love and Tony’s authenticity, we can bring you an experience of true magic.

Welcome to a version of us, and a moment of a promise between friends — beyond race, class, or looks — but of true realness, being, and fulfillment.
