It was almost like xmas

Mum and Dad were on good form today and we had a good hours chat before I drove my rental to pick up Tabu. Brenton needed the truck so we went out in a black vitara from Taylors rental of course.
We found a stand-in for the pachuka or pachura which dabs the oil on the buss up when cooking and then we paid for the wifi to be turned on in the restaurant. A lot of people will be pleased with that.
I wanted to give blood for Amy , she needs 2 donors in case she needs blood when she has her baby. However I cut my thumb on Sunday and you cannot give blood with an open wound. I had a bandaid on it and it really is not bad but heyho never mind. I will try next week and do my best not to cut myself again.
Below is our slap up nosh at ILike chinese opposite Almandoz and it was excellent. We bought chopsticks for 3tt each and will now keep them in our bags for future use. I managed to lose my restaurant keys but the chinese place has them and they will be retrieved by Amy tomorrow.
We found a bargain each at Cache in the lowlands mall only $89tt, you will see them on tomorrows post. The electric came back on and therefore the water when I reached Miss Maudlyns so I am very glad we went out.
We found Visto supermarket which had cut up chicken for only 21.50tt a pound.
I bought a turkey in Yats as we were going to cook chinese with Amy and Tabu but the pregnant one is craving a roast turkey. Oh what a shame I thought.... not really, I love a roast turkey.
The turkey was not the reason it felt like xmas though. When I went to pay and turn on the wifi in the restaurant the lady said I did not need to pay as I had a credit of 1500tt. How on earth did that happen? So basically I do not have to pay for bmobile wifi until June next year. Now isn't that worth celebrating?

Washing and sewing....

I think it is quite funny when I look back at my life so far. As a 16year old girl I was quite a staunch feminist in my own way and then I became a teacher which is often seen as a very female career. Now I spend my days cooking, washing laundry and sewing... and I love it. Strange yes? Mind you I still think I am a feminist for what it's worth🤣.
So today was 3 washes of room linen and 6 cushions. Once dry I will be sewing new covers and then covering the sofa foams. We did not shop today as there will be no current tomorrow and thought it better to be away from home then.
My apron is almost finished too and I had a delightful visit from Compere this afternoon. We had a lovely cup of tea and I made him a sandwich. He was quite talkative today and we had a nice time.
The tropical wave did not manifest last night although it was quite windy with doors banging shut. The sea is looking a better colour too but I did not swim.
Bridgerton demanded his face rub and he really can tell the time. It is always within the same 10 minutes, weird eh?
Below is the last of my bussup videos showing some very elegant coned doughs resting before being rolled out and coomed. Maybe one day we will ha e a go at doubles too. You never know😜

Working hard or hardly?

It was a day of bits and pieces really. First iff I called wipay carib ean and checked thar I had signed up correctly and so bingo! We now accept card payments for the guest rooms. I have a link that works, we tested it. Rory Ragoonanan has been a godsend and has helped me update our website, photos on airbnb and generally been absolutely marvellous. I now feel like a computer mastermind and in complete control of our bookings.
We have a tropical wave blowing our way and it is supposed to hit later tonight so all the animals will be under or on our bed probably, especially if there is thunder.
Next I took my shopping bag and picked up about 25 mangoes to bag in the freezer. Alfred is laden with large avocadoes once again and even Alfie, son of Alfred, is bearing this year. His avos are much smaller though. I shall ha e to get a spritely lad to hpick some for .e tomorrow as the ones that fall are so big they crack when they fall.
I was hassled by the orange one a lot today and had to give him an extended face and head rub to keep him quiet. He left me a present under my bed and it had to be removed, a dead rat. Lovely!

Party Sunday

Well pizzas are much less fiddly than bussup for sure. We sold 5 pizzas today and I am currently showered and on the sofa. I have had a bit of a dance with my husband who is in a very spritely mood. The drums are on the go again and all in all there was and is a party mood down there.
Below is Tabu chopping with her dablas, no idea how to spell that, and we have a pachura or pachuka(oil brush) on the list for this week.
We will shop on wednesday this week as there will be no current that day. The sea is a bit calmer today and hardly any rain. The weather people are warning that people could die due to the el nino this year so I will be keeping watch on the coral. I keep cutting my fingers and just as it heals I do it again. So I want to get all wounds healed before I go in the sea. They have not caught the green eel we saw yet but are trying hard.
A bit of net soaking tomorrow and cushion washing then I can sew another pillow case over the cushions for the season and get the lavender and yellow right ready for my next guests. The kettle is calling me and I really fancy a cup of tea before I sink into my book or a film, bliss.

Relaxing squared

Below is a video showing Tabu rolling the bussup onto the dabla ready to cook it. I had some again today and it is delicious. We have had a lot of rain today but sunny intervals in between. I have messed about washing, cleaning a little and making ginger mango chutney ready for friday as we ran out yesterday.
I am going to the blue room shortly for dinner with Maryann and Peano. Brenton is in good voice with music down by the ninimart and I think I heard drums too. It is not loud though , a good lime.
I finally dived into Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros and I do mean dived. Once I start reading then I am there in the story and it is a hell of a story, all fantasy of course.
I am ready for pizzas tomorrow and feel very rested and calm. Today felt like a rainy day in England when all I had to do was read, eat, watch a film and be.

Success with the buss up shot

What a great day it was. We sold nearly all of the bussup and may well have to send some free boxes over to big bay to see if we can tempt the people over there. Orlando chopped, seasoned and cooked the meats while I cooked the pumpkin, curry potatoes and curry channa. I need to make more mango chutney tomorrow too.
However the show was stolen by our new bussup chef Tabu. She made 10 plain and 10 bhaji bussups whjch were tasty, not oily and excellent at soaking up that delicious curry sauce. We have decided to be a bit cleverer on a thursday and will make sure we have garlic and seasoning blended as well as maybe seasoning the meat and steaming the bhaji.
Videos to show the new dablas and different parts of the process will be put on in the coming days.
Amy was going to walk down but we had thunder lightning and extremely heavy rain so she stayed home, very sensible.
So this morning I woke to two things, the first was that we had water thank goodness. The second was that apparently Iran has threatened to assassinate Trump and they said this time the bullet will not miss. Well what do you make of that? Honestly I find it not at all upsetting, he is a madman and if it were not for the obvious worry of causing world war three I would think, marvellous. Am I a bit too harsh, callous even? Well I do not think so, we have seen and learnt in school what can happen when a lone madman is in power, why doesn't the American people see it happening right under their noses? Okay so rant over and I will return to being nice.
All the dogs wanted to come in the kitchen when the thunder was going, they really don't like it. Below you can see Orlando stirring his curry chicken, Tabu rolling out dough for the cone shapes and the other one is my view as I sit with a badly needed cup of tea watching🤣😅😂🤩

Ready for a bussup again?

I wiggled into town and after waiting for my number to be called, trotting off to get a light bill and 2 photocopies, waiting again, I finally had my photo snapped and a new driving licence.
Back home I coloured my hair and watched Li Peiyi ride off into the mountains with her handsome Xaio Huajin. Searching for a new romance to watch now. I have boneless goat as well as chicken tomorrow and Tabu and I are mixing the dough for the first time. Here is Keishon showing us how to do it last week.
I really enjoy making bussup ,well cooking mainly. So we will see it we pass muster.
A few showers again but hot. I have heard nothing more about the Trump arch he is probably trying to buy the eiffel tower or something.
They are talking about an el nino, well warning us really. It is goingto be bad so I hope the coral does not bleach again.

Veggies anyone?

This is the produce on offer at our minimart at the moment and new stock is arriving all the time. Hopefully there will be bacon, eggs, cheese pasta etc...very soon. Or am I just being a bit too english there?
I fancy some bacon right now.
Never mind, it has been quite hot and sunny but raining this evening with the occasional flash of lightning.
I had a lovely chat with Mum this morning. Dad had gone with Dean, Geoff and Geoff Senior to walk around the stables that Dean works in. I think he got special permission.
Mum enjoyed her birthday and all the cake disappeared and anotger cake I do not get a piece of😋.
I am about to get my laughing gear around a super sized snickers, or marathon jf you are of a certain age. Really enjoying Jadewind, a chinese whodunnit way back when they all wore robes.

Shopping in a flash

I had a slow start, puzzling on the sofa and 2 cups of tea! Then up for Miss M's shopoing list and then off to pick up Tabu. We visited the veggie ladies first, then Licensing and then lunch at Fortune.
Quite a hot day again and a few ominous clouds but no rain. We hit the pharmacy and Pennysavers before heading home a lot earlier than usual.
The sea sounded a bit rough but was a glorious sight when
we were driving in.
Below Keishon is making the cones in the prep for buss up shot.

A boat trip

Quite a bit of rain and some thunder but all in all a good day. It rained this morning and we were going on a boat trip so watching the weather very keenly. By the time we hopped on the boat it was about 2pm. We were on Daveons boat so it was very easy to just walk on with his swim deck. No need to go in headfirst, how marvellous.
We had bbq chicken, cheesy potatoes, callalloo, coleslaw, garlic bread and pasta salad. All washed down with rum punch or soft drink depending on who was pregnant. There was nobody at Cotton Bay and we had a very relaxing time.
It is raining again while I am sitting here and I am feeling for bed already. It is 7.30pm but that sea air just tires you out. What a lovely day though and the photos from the boat, well I don't do that very often. A thumbs up for the boat Progress 2 is the way to go. Very comfy and easy to get on and off.
Tomorrow Amy will be 5 weeks away from Baby Walker, somewhere around there anyway. I am primed and ready. Amy has her bags ready for the hospital and I think I will have a bag ready also for essentials. Water, phone, charger and sandwiches. What else do I need?
