The main purpose of the Meet Lab First Touch kit is simple: to make the water used in the coffee brewing process visible. Because brewing coffee is not only about understanding the beans, the roast profile, or the brewing equipment. Understanding water chemistry is equally important.
When a barista or coffee enthusiast can measure the hardness, alkalinity, and pH of the water they use, they can approach the brewing process in a much more conscious and informed way.
In the coffee world, we often talk about equipment and techniques. However, there is a simple truth that is often overlooked: we don’t truly know the water we use during brewing.
Meet Lab First Touch was designed to make this invisible aspect visible. The measurements have been simplified as much as possible, and to prevent confusion while using the kit, we prepared an animation for each kit that explains the process in detail.
