The journey through Beyoğlu continued around the table at Art & Kitchen Restaurant.

Created for MGallery Heritage Days, the special menu brought together flavours rooted in the neighbourhood’s cultural memory. Topik, lakerda and Sephardic börek were accompanied by slow-cooked beef ribs and sautéed monkfish.

The stories we encountered throughout the day found a new expression through Beyoğlu’s culinary heritage, shaped over generations by many different cultures.

As part of MGallery Heritage Days, we traced the cultural memory of Beyoğlu through a half-day journey across the neighbourhood.

Led by Mois Gabay, a professional tour guide, educator, author and a third-generation resident of Beyoğlu, our route began in Gümüşsuyu and continued through Taksim Square, the Aya Triada Church, historic passages, the culture of Yeşilçam, traditional taverns and theatres.

Through architecture, urban stories and traces of everyday life, we rediscovered the many layers that have shaped Beyoğlu over time.

For MGallery Heritage Days, we took our story beyond the hotel and into the cultural memory of Beyoğlu.

On 2 September, we walked from Gümüşsuyu to Beyoğlu, guided by the stories of Mois Gabay. Alongside the neighbourhood’s familiar landmarks, we followed the quieter details woven into everyday life, discovering how the past continues to shape its buildings and streets.
