Some doors close.
This one opens again.
SUMAK.
My little café venture that began in 2018.
At first it was a traditional coffee shop, but with little foot traffic and too much food going to waste, I knew something had to change.
So I reshaped it. Reservation-only dining. Rotating menus. Beautiful produce, cooked to order.
Over the years it became a popular little venue. It grew, it evolved, and it was my happy place. But SUMAK has always been my vision, and after a year to readjust, I’m ready to open the doors again very soon.
Just me, new faces, new energy, and great food.
Over the years we’ve also welcomed our friend, the wonderful Özlem Warren, for very special cooking workshops — a reminder of why I started this journey in the first place.
We’ll be hosting Özlem again this coming June for a special “Taste of Istanbul” cookery workshop, and signed copies of her wonderful new book Istanbul will be available to purchase on the day.
I will announce a further update soon. If you wish to book provisionally, please do not hesitate to contact me.
This next chapter will bring positive changes, fresh ideas, and a renewed focus on creating the very best food I can.
SUMAK moves forward — stronger, clearer, and entirely my own.
A sincere thank you to everyone who has supported us and this little restaurant since the beginning. I’m looking forward to welcoming you back.
(I love this photo taken by one of our original customers.)
A new chapter begins.
