—Today's golf results and report
— Course : Hermes
— Wednesday 16 September 2026
— White Tees /14 Players /1 Flight / Stableford.
— Captains on the day 👨✈️: 🏴 B C and 🏴 Mike J.
Another excellent Wednesday with the Golden Ferret Golf Society, with 14 golfers heading out to Hermes Golf Club for today's Stableford competition.
And first things first — the course was in excellent condition today. The presentation was first class, the course looked great also very green and the playing surfaces made for a very enjoyable day of golf. Hermes is a layout that demands a bit of thought because of the amount of water and trouble waiting for a loose shot, but when a course is presented this well, it is a pleasure to play.
There was some excellent scoring too. The tournament went all the way to countback, with B.C. and Simon O both finishing on 38 points before B.C.'s brilliant back nine decided the winner.
🏆 TOP 3
🥇1st 🏴 B.C. — HCP 18.0 — 38 POINTS
Back 9: 21 points — Winner on countback
🎟️ 500 THB Golden Ferret Voucher
📉 Handicap: 18.0 → 16.4 (-1.6).
What a finish from B.C.
With both B.C. and Simon O sitting on 38 points, today's tournament came down to the back-nine countback. B.C. produced his best golf exactly when he needed it, firing a superb 21 points coming home to take first place.
He also recorded a 4-pointer on Hole 12, adding another highlight to an already excellent round.
What makes the performance even better is that B.C. was also one of today's captains. He helped run the day, looked after the golfers and still managed to concentrate on his own game enough to walk away with the victory.
The reward is the 500-baht winner's voucher — and the handicapper's reward is taking 1.6 shots away!
18.0 becomes 16.4.
Enjoy the win, B.C. The next one just became a little harder! 😂
🥈2nd 🇦🇺 SIMON O — HCP 19.0 — 38 POINTS
Front 9: 21 | Back 9: 17
🎟️ 400 THB Golden Ferret Voucher
📉 Handicap: 19.0 → 18.4 (-0.6)
What a way for Simon to finish his trip.
Playing his last Golden Ferret round before heading home to Australia, Simon came out firing with 21 points on the front nine.
He also collected a 4-pointer on Hole 5 and eventually signed for an excellent 38 points.
On many days that's enough to win, but B.C.'s 21-point back nine beat Simon's 17 on countback.
Still, second place and 38 points in your farewell round is a pretty good way to finish!
Simon loses 0.4 from his handicap, moving from 19.0 to 18.6.
🥉3rd 🇦🇺 GRANT — HCP 8.8 — 36 POINTS
Front 9: 20 points
🎟️ 300 THB Golden Ferret Voucher.
A very impressive round from Grant.
Playing from a handicap of only 8.8, Grant doesn't have many shots to play with, so putting together 20 points on the front nine was excellent golf.
He finished with 36 points, playing right to his handicap and earning a deserved place in the Top 3.
On a course like Hermes, where one loose shot can quickly find water or leave you fighting to save a point, 36 points from a single-figure player is a very solid performance.
Well played, Grant. 👏
🎯 NEAREST THE PINS
200 baht vouchers each near pin.
⛳ Hole 2 —🏴 Jeff W — 160 yards
🎟️ 200 THB Voucher
⛳ Hole 6 — 🇦🇺 Terry D — 148 yards
🎟️ 200 THB Voucher
⛳ Hole 11 —🏴 Jon L — 151 yards
🎟️ 200 THB Voucher
⛳ Hole 14 — 🏴 Ray — 146 yards
🎟️ 200 THB Voucher
Some very nice iron shots there, gentlemen. 🎯👏
🇦🇺✈️ SAFE TRAVELS SIMON O
A very special mention today for Simon O, who played his final round with us before heading home to Australia.
Simon certainly made the most of the farewell round — 38 points, 21 on the front nine, a 4-pointer and second place on countback.
More importantly, we want to thank Simon for supporting the Golden Ferret Restaurant & Golf Society while he's been here.
Our society isn't just about who wins each day. It's about having a good group of people who enjoy their golf, have a laugh together and support what we're trying to build.
Simon has been part of that.
Thank you very much for your support, Simon. 🙏
We hope you've enjoyed your time with us and made some good memories along the way.
Have a safe flight home to Australia 🇦🇺✈️, enjoy catching up with everyone back home and hopefully it won't be too long before we see you walking through the Golden Ferret doors again.
Until next trip, mate. 🍻⛳.
🔥 4-POINTER CLUB
Plenty of big holes on the scorecards today:
⭐🇯🇵 Matsu — Hole 3 — 4 pts
⭐🇯🇵 Matsu — Hole 6 — 4 pts
⭐ 🇯🇵Matsu — Hole 7 — 4 pts
⭐ 🇦🇺Simon O — Hole 5 — 4 pts
⭐ 🇦🇺 Terry D — Hole 6 — 4 pts
⭐ 🏴B.C. — Hole 12 — 4 pts
⭐🇯🇵 Kazu — Hole 17 — 4 pts.
🔥🇯🇵 MATSU — THREE 4-POINTERS!
Matsu deserves his own mention.
He managed three 4-pointers in five holes, recording them on 3, 6 and 7.
That helped him put together a huge 23-point front nine, the best opening nine of anybody in the field.
Twenty-three points through nine holes tends to get you thinking about what might happen on the back nine — and that's usually when golf reminds us not to think too far ahead! 😂
Still, a fantastic opening nine from Matsu.
💥 BEST NINE-HOLE SCORES
FRONT NINE
🇯🇵 Matsu — 23 points
🏴Mike J — 21 points
🇦🇺 Simon O — 21 points
🇦🇺Grant — 20 points
🇦🇺Terry D — 19 points
Some excellent front-nine scoring, with five golfers reaching 19 points or better.
Matsu was the standout with 23.
BACK NINE
🏴 B.C. — 21 points
And ultimately, those nine holes won today's tournament.
B.C.'s 21 coming home wasn't just the day's best recorded back nine — it was enough to beat Simon's 17 on countback and turn a tied 38 points into victory.
⛳ HERMES — COURSE REVIEW
Course condition today: EXCELLENT. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Hermes was presented beautifully today and was a pleasure for the society to play.
The layout is the renovated former Parichat International Golf Links, which originally opened in 2015. Published course information credits Parichat Vivatanant and Pichet Nuengjumnong with the original design. Current published information around the post-renovation tee yardages varies, with one course guide listing the white tees at approximately 6,445 yards.
COURSE PROFILE
⛳ 18 holes — Par 72
⚪ Golden Ferret tees — White
📏 White-tee distance — approximately 6,400+ yards
🏗️ Original designers — Parichat Vivatanant & Pichet Nuengjumnong
🚌 Travel from The Golden Ferret — approximately 40 minutes
Hermes is very much a strategic golf course rather than somewhere you can automatically hit driver from every tee.
Water is a major feature, while doglegs, carries, changes in elevation and strategically positioned hazards make course management important. Published descriptions of the layout note water coming into play on the great majority of the holes.
Today the course was in excellent condition.
That's important to us because we play a lot of golf around Pattaya and the surrounding area. When a course is presented well, we like to give them credit.
Great job, Hermes. 👏⛳
🙏 HERMES CADDIES & STAFF
Another big thank you goes to the Hermes caddies and staff.
We always like to recognise the caddies because their contribution can sometimes be overlooked.
Caddying for amateur golfers is not an easy job!
They help with distances, club selection, reading greens, raking bunkers, maintaining the course, keeping the groups moving and — probably most importantly with some of us — trying to work out where the golf ball has disappeared to! 😂
Their work helps make our golf days run smoothly.
The Hermes staff and caddies looked after our golfers very well today, and we appreciate the hospitality and service.
Thank you from everyone at the Golden Ferret. 🙏
🫡 OUR CAPTAINS — 🏴B.C. & 🏴MIKE J
A special thank you to today's captains:
B.C. & Mike J
These guys deserve plenty of recognition.
Running a golf society takes a lot more work than people see. Having good captains who can organise golfers, help with groups, check scorecards, sort Near Pins, collect results, keep an eye on pace of play and generally deal with whatever happens during the day makes an enormous difference.
They take pressure off me and help make the whole operation run better.
B.C. and Mike J continue to be a massive help to the Golden Ferret Golf Society.
Thank you both. 🙏
And congratulations again to Captain B.C. for somehow doing the administration and still finding 38 points! 🏆😂
