Koh Samui has been named the best island in the Asia-Pacific region at the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards 2026, with Samui International Airport placing second in the Best Airports category behind Singapore's Changi Airport.
Five of the island's resorts also placed in the top 10 of the Best Beach and Island Resorts in Thailand category, with Cape Fahn Hotel taking second place.
The government said it plans to use the recognition to guide further development, focusing on distributing tourism income to local communities, sustainability, and improved connectivity to the Andaman Sea islands.
