The Chiang Mai’s Bougainvillea

——

There is a place
Beyond the world’s seas,
At the crossroads of primordial forces
And luxury hotels;
A nexus between the invisible and
The scars.
There exists a spot where each day
A blooming bougainvillea
Watches over the spines of weary men
And the wide-eyed wonder of young women.

There is a café in Chiang Mai
On the path to the night market,
A small garden bathed in light—
Satine and pink.
A carpet of petals dancing with the breeze;
A few simple tables where you can sit
Or lay down if you’re a cat.
You can eat, drink local coffee,
Lounge with Mary Jane, or simply
Close your eyes
In the bougainvillea’s shade.

The keepers here are especially gentle,
Their smiles never fade,
Their laughter often lingers near you
For their hearts are always joyful,
In sharing,
And perfectly attuned
To your humblest wishes.
No artifice or pretension,
Just simple, beautiful souls
Who long to be here
And offer you refuge for a moment,
Beneath the bougainvillea’s petal rain
That falls upon your hands and soul
And wraps them in silk kisses.

This is the nowhere café,
This is the café here and now.
This is the Nowhere Coffee of Chiang Mai,
And a heart beating all year long:
Its magnificent bougainvillea.

ฮ่องกงในหัวผมเคยมีแต่ตึก ผู้คน และความเร็ว

แต่ Kennedy Town ทำให้ภาพนั้นเปลี่ยนไป

ที่นี่มีทะเล มีลม มีคนวิ่ง มีเรือทำงาน และมีร้านกาแฟเล็กๆ อยู่ข้างถนน ให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนหัวหิน + ปราณบุรี + พัทยา ถูกวางไว้ในจังหวะของฮ่องกง

ผมชอบตรงที่เมืองยังเคลื่อนไหว แต่เราไม่จำเป็นต้องรีบตามตลอดเวลา

การเดินทางครั้งนี้ทำให้ผมกลับมาคิดถึง Nowhere ว่า บางทีสิ่งที่คนตามหาอาจไม่ใช่แค่กาแฟดีๆอย่างเดียว แต่คือพื้นที่เล็กๆ ในเมือง ที่ยอมให้เขาหยุด หายใจ และกลับไปอยู่ในจังหวะของตัวเอง เมื่อได้มาดื่มกาแฟดีดี

Kennedy Town คือฮ่องกงในแบบที่เราชอบที่สุด

ตึกแน่น เมืองเร็ว แต่พอถนนเปิดออกสู่ทะเล ทุกอย่างเหมือนช้าลง

มันมีหัวหินอยู่หน่อยหนึ่ง
มีปราณบุรีอยู่ในลม
และมีพัทยาอยู่ในความคึกคัก

กาแฟหนึ่งแก้ว เรือที่วิ่งผ่าน คนที่ออกมาวิ่งและยืดเส้นหลังฝน—เรื่องธรรมดาเหล่านี้ทำให้ย่านนี้รู้สึกคุ้น เหมือนเมืองที่ไม่เคยอยู่ แต่กลับทำให้นึกถึงบ้าน

บางทีการเดินทางไม่ได้พาเราไปเจอแค่สถานที่ใหม่
แต่มันช่วยบอกว่า เรากำลังมองหาชีวิตแบบไหนอยู่
