Lucky's Vietnamese Restaurant - Chiang Mai Open 11am-3pm & 4pm-8pm every day selling bun cha, bun bo nam bo, nem nuong Nha Trang, bun chay, custards, coconut slushies and phin coffee.

For many years my husband and I used to visit different countries in South East Asia every 3-6 months. We did so mainly to refresh his visa. Penang and Bali were favourite spots. We always understood how lucky we were to be able to travel so much, but the pandemic has made it feel like a dream. On our first couple of trips to Hanoi, we didn’t particularly enjoy the food (apart from custards and co

ffee, which we loved instantly). There didn’t seem to be as much variety in the types of dishes on offer (compared to our home in Thailand). The cuisine seemed a lot simpler. We regularly travel for food, and love new experiences, but we just weren’t wowed as so many foodies are when visiting Vietnam. On our third visit we had our first decent bowl of bun cha, and fell in love. We began eating it every day, and in time, our love for bun cha taught us to appreciate other Vietnamese dishes. The carefully balanced flavours. The contrast of textures. The use of fresh herbs to add a floral dimension to taste and smell. The application of a variety of simple cooking techniques to create a surprisingly complex food experience. Bun cha introduced us to her brothers and sisters, one-by-one. We don’t have to do visa runs anymore, but we return to Hanoi every chance we get. Although we still eat bun cha for lunch (almost) every day, we have favourite spots all over the city now for pho, banh cuon, bun ca, xoi, bun bo nam bo, banh duc nong, nem nuong etc. We haven’t made it back to Bali or Penang in many years. So Lucky’s is our humble love letter to bun cha. We hope you enjoy your time with us, and that in some small way our food makes you want to visit Hanoi someday, or return.

We're busier than usual right now.

We got reviewed by a popular influencer about a week ago. We have been busy for the last 5-6 days because of that. It's also a long weekend right now (for those who may not know), so there are a lot of Thai tourists in town.

If you're a local, and don't enjoy crowds, maybe hold off visiting us for a couple of days until things settle down. We're smol!

It was quiet for the last few weeks (since Songkran), and will probably be quiet again in a week.

I don't mind eating in a busy restaurant, but if you're one of the people who does, here are some tips to enjoy a quieter meal at Lucky's:

+ Nights are always quieter than days.
+ Weekdays are always quieter than weekends.
+ Normal weekends are always quieter than long weekends (sandwiched between public holidays).
+ 4pm is usually the quietest time to book.
+ 11am is usually the second quietest time to book.

+ If you want to order by phone for pickup, we will do our very best to have your food ready close to pickup time.
+ If you are ok paying delivery fees, that works too.

We plan on opening much earlier this high season, which will spread customers out over the day a bit (breakfast BBQ!).

Hello! We are looking for some servers (front of house) for our restaurant in Santitham. Day and night shifts available.

A good level of English is required
You must be well groomed
You need to be cheerful & love dealing with people

All staff will be expected to do general cafe duties (dishes, cleaning, some basic food preparation, making coffee etc.). We will provide training.

The pay will depend on skills, experience and English ability but will be well above industry average.

All staff must be able to speak Thai and work in Thailand legally.

Any prospective staff member will need to do a trial shift so we can see if you are a good fit for us, and so you can see if we are a good fit for you. You will be paid for this shift at a rate of 50 THB per hour.

We have a big booking today at 12. There will only be a handful of seats indoors available between 12 and 1-1:30. If you're coming to see us today, and you want to sit inside, it's best to call us to book a table and the food you want. Availability is limited between 12 and 1:30 as stated.

If you are an introvert and don't like communicating with strangers (we get it), come at 11am. You will can sit at one of the reserved tables ***as long as you're happy vacating the table by 11:45*** so the tables can be made ready for the reservation.

The day after a holiday can sometimes be super busy (sometimes its dead so who knows). Always best to call to book food and seats.
