EP4 : Great oysters aren’t made overnight. 🦪
At Cadoret, every oyster begins with one thing:
time.
Long before it reaches your table, each oyster spends at least three years growing naturally on the seabed of Carantec, Brittany, using the traditional on-bottom farming method across more than 250 hectares of pristine coastal waters.
Day after day.
Season after season.
There are no shortcuts.
Only patience, experience, and respect for nature.
Once fully matured, selected oysters continue their journey through refining—a final stage that develops even greater depth, texture, and character.
But what impressed us most isn’t just the taste.
It’s the philosophy behind it.
Cadoret believes that great oysters come from working with nature, not against it.
They’ve introduced 100% recyclable swing bags, built lightweight aluminium workboats to reduce carbon emissions, and, whenever possible, let the rhythm of the tides do the work.
As they like to say:
“The job is made by the tide.”
By the time a Cadoret oyster reaches your plate, it carries more than three years of careful cultivation and the craftsmanship of a family that has dedicated five generations to a single passion.
Perhaps that’s why some oysters don’t just taste exceptional…
They tell an exceptional story.
