M’baluza M.J. Kamara
Visionary Entrepreneur | Community Leader | Advocate for Women’s Empowerment
M’baluza M.J. Kamara was born on May 16, 1978, in Kamakwie, Karene District. She is a dynamic entrepreneur, a passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, and a pillar of her community.
M’baluza began her professional journey with Carats Salone, where she made a significant impact by teaching technical skills such as gara dying, tailoring, and soap making to school dropouts. Her dedication to empowering others laid the foundation for her future endeavors.
In 2008, she launched the Helping Hands Organisation, a women-focused program that began with an initial fund of 20 million Leones. Over time, the fund grew, enabling the organization to provide microfinance loans to women, empowering them to start or expand their own businesses and improve their livelihoods.
In 2016, M’baluza ventured into wholesale business by partnering with Brewery Salone to serve her community effectively. Her entrepreneurial journey expanded further in 2018 when she entered the entertainment industry by opening a restaurant and bar called On D Spot. For four years, it became a favorite destination in Kamakwie, known for its vibrant atmosphere and excellent service.
Her vision and commitment to growth culminated in the establishment of the Kamakwie City Plaza, now recognized as the best place for relaxation and entertainment in the area. The plaza provides a wide range of services, including catering, event hosting, restaurant and bar services, sports screenings, and more. Through this venture, M’baluza has created numerous employment opportunities for the youth in Kamakwie.
In addition to her business achievements, M’baluza serves as the President of KWIG (Karene Women in Governance). In this role, she is dedicated to training and mentoring young women, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to contribute meaningfully to society.
