AI can make the first version of a website much faster and cheaper.

But building the website is only the beginning.

A few months later, the real questions start:

Can you easily change the content?
Can you add new pages or features?
Is the site still fast?
Do updates break anything?
Can another developer understand how it was built?

This is where the original setup starts to matter.

AI is a great tool and we already use it ourselves, but a website still needs a good foundation if you want to keep it for years.

The cheapest website on day one is not always the cheapest website to own.

For us, that is becoming one of the most important questions when building WordPress websites today:

Most WordPress problems aren't WordPress. They're five things people believe about it — and all five are wrong.

"You need to code." You don't. Modern themes and visual editors build most business sites without a line of code.

"More plugins is better." Every plugin adds weight and a potential security hole. Five good ones beat twenty average ones.

"Any theme will do." The theme decides speed, structure and support for years. It's the foundation, not the paint — and swapping it later is painful.

"Set it and forget it." WordPress needs updates. Unmaintained sites are exactly how most get hacked. Not because WordPress is weak, but because nobody was watching.

"WordPress isn't secure." Core is genuinely secure. The real risks are outdated plugins and weak passwords. Handle those and it's as safe as anything online.

Disclosure: we build WordPress themes and run care plans, so myths 3–4 are literally our job. None of this is controversial among people who work in WordPress though.

WooCommerce 11.0 is here 👋

What I like about this release is that it’s not trying to impress with one huge new feature.

A lot of the work is focused on things that matter when you actually run a store: performance, stability, checkout and customer accounts.

There are also smaller practical improvements, like allowing customers to connect older guest orders to their account after verifying their email.

For me, this is a good direction.

As an online store grows, speed and reliability usually become much more important than adding another feature.

WordPress 7.1 is coming on 19 August.

One of the smaller changes is easy to overlook, but it can still affect how theme and plugin admin screens look after the update.

Around 20 components in `/components` are moving to 40px controls by default.

That means nothing may technically “break” — but buttons, fields and spacing can still shift.

For developers and agencies, this is exactly the kind of change worth checking on a staging site before updating a live project.

We’ll be testing our AnpsThemes products as well before the release.
