It’s been a month since we said our “till next time!” , how has everyone at Esplanade been? ❤️

The final batch of and XL tote bags are still on the way, with a slight delay! If you’re one of those still waiting, thank you for your patience! We should be receiving them from the supplier and packing them out to be sent in the 2nd week of august (national day week!) 🙌🏻

It’s been a month, and… I miss Esplanade/Sanity!!!

GARAGE SALE!!!

We’ll be keeping our coffee machines/grinders and camping chairs!

But we’re selling off our cups/plates/utensils and some other merchandise that we haven’t gotten round organizing!

If you’re interested, come check out what we have for sale in our little corner today 5pm till 9pm and tomorrow (Tuesday) from 12pm - 8pm :)

Hello best customers in the world!!!

The last day of operation for Sanity is in 2 days, 25th June, this Sunday. We have no plans to relocate so this is really… goodbye for now!

The team behind the bar have been working hard to bring you Sanity and our toasties! … and though the last few weeks have been absolutely INSANE 😂, I find myself smiling amidst the chaos and counting ALL the blessings in this space. Every moment feels so unique and precious.

On 25th June, Sunday, we’ll be documenting our last day of operation and we would love for you to be part of it! We plan to record a shoutout video at every hour - 11am, 12noon, 1pm, 2pm etc.. until we close at 5pm! Join us for one of these videos as we turn to the camera and shout… “THANK YOU AND GOODBYE SANITY! STAY KIND! STAY SANE!”

Do let us know which hour you’re intending to come for you so that we know what to expect and perhaps attempt some crowd control (stay sane, stay safe!) You can do so by leaving a comment below or sending us a DM via IG!

We treasure every opportunity to make you a toastie or a in these last few days but if there’s a long wait, we ask for your patience and understanding! ❤️😬

Our food supplies have been running out really fast, and because a lot of what we put into our toasties isn’t easily bought off the shelves, it’s going to be a till we sell out situation! So if you’d like one last toastie or piak, come soon! (And then come again on Sunday to join us for our shout out videos 🥲)

During covid, when Sanity started doing deliveries, I was the one replying your messages and arranging your deliveries. Was honestly so so so impressed by how nice and patient and understanding and sweet Sanity customers are!!! And I think that speaks volume to the kind of cafe Sanity is. ❤️⁣⁣

Sanity is a safe and comfortable space for many people. It is unpretentious, it is not trying to be something it’s not. It’s just good coffee and good conversations! ⁣⁣

Sanity is a community club. It’s a place I go to meet a friend and then end up bumpng into MANY OTHER FRIENDS. ⁣⁣

Sanity is a cafe that serves fantastic coffee (even though Diya will always say she’s not a coffee connoisseur like many other cafe owners, hello, you are!!) ! As many would know by now, I am an addict of Sanity’s Dorscon, a latte with homemade orange syrup. It’s a happy drink. It lifts my day up everytime!⁣⁣

I just want to say congratulations to Sanity. It was a really good run. I genuinely believe Sanity has made an impact in people’s lives. And I know we will miss Sanity and the crew. But I believe this is not goodbye!!! It will pop up here and there right? So please continue to follow Sanity IG account and see if Diya suddenly decide to do pop-ups yah? ⁣⁣

4 years of witnessing my ups and downs as a business owner(and also seeing my growth? 🥹) and helping me so much along the way. Thank you 😭

As I close this chapter and say our final “see you next time”, I also look forward to joining forces with Carrie and working on more music. It’s about time :) ⁣

Esmeralda our espresso cup is no where to be found since the end of our shift on Wednesday. Please return her if you’ve accidentally put her in your bag or if you see her wandering around, tell her to come back to us please!

She is often found hanging outside people watching with Cornelius the croissant, but now Cornelius sits alone on our camping chair 😭

Please help to ask your friends who have been to sanity and spread the news.

Whoever finds Esmeralda and returns her to us will be rewarded with a cup of Sanity and our utmost gratitude 🙌🏻

“A space for everyone (from 0 – 99+), a place that holds memories for all who ventured in.⁣
⁣
The early days of Sanity was a quiet space tucked in the corner where the Esplanade staff comes in for their daily cup of usual and tired wanderer recharge with before continuing their journey. Every day was all about brewing the usual few cups and a learning journey to calibrate the best shot for that cup that will either make or break the day. There were also days where we were crazily busy - Children Day was the fondest memory (I think), and there are other memories too.⁣

Brewing a cup or cups of coffee is much easier than crafting this message and it really is.⁣
⁣
This journey of Sanity would not be possible without dream of “我想开café” and the friends and regulars who helped and supported from the beginning to the end. Friends who helped wash the dishes, vacuumed the floor, tasked with impromptu deliveries, and tried the R&D experiments when all they came was to drink coffee and eat piakssants. Sanity would not be Sanity without all of you who came through that small little glass door.⁣

And so, to everyone who gave me a chance to serve you that , Thank YOU. It was a pleasure and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed brewing it.” ⁣

Sanity’s firstborn (😂) took a long time to craft this msg, and it’s probably because she holds so much in her heart!

She’s been working side by side with me since day 1, and from not feeling confident about her coffee (but ask her to drill a few holes, hammer a few nails and she will not think twice) till coffee calibration and her latte art is better than mine, it’s always been a joy and respect to watch her POUR her heart and soul into every task on hand. ⁣
⁣
Thank you for always giving your purest and bestest to all those around you! 🙌🏻 I know there are many sanity regulars who miss you but whom you continue to make an effort to keep in contact with, your heart is known by many. Take heart, and stay sane and kind always dear ! ❤️

Often when I share that happened between 2019 - 2023 many people will at me with a 😟😮‍💨 face and say “Wah but you survived 2 years of Covid”

The memories were , and often the tensions ran high 😏 but without these years, I don’t know if the and the would have made its way into our menu.

Would the have also made its debut?

rallied our friends together to bring fresh coffee to frontline workers.

We lived our days through day by day, month by month and now we’re down to our last 16 days.

Starting to feel a little melancholy creeping in, but in quiet cafe moments (like the one I’m typing in)… I know I’ll miss the high chair my butt now rests on, the high pitched almost inaudible screech of the air con, Jonathan the bird that randomly flies into our cafe, the toasties I built in my head on insomniac nights (don’t blame coffee. 咖啡是无辜的！)that was brought to life and now sits on our menu.

You won’t find these elsewhere I’m sure. Cause I cafe hopped a lot and wanted within my capacity to offer something I myself would love.

My all-time favourite’s the shroom-not-zoom, inspired by childhood memories of the BK shroom burger. But often I have a mad craving for , because 🔥

3. Submit the filled-out slip into the Green and Red letter box below our Sanity counter. ⁣⁣
4. On the following Monday of the next week, 5 lucky winners will then be picked out! ⁣⁣

Since the sell-out of the first batch (sorry, we really thought nobody appreciated extra large bags. We were wrong 🫣), we’ve placed an order for more!⁣⁣

However, good things take time, about 2-3 weeks in this case. Since that’s near our closing date, the tote bags will be sent out via registered post.
