Since opening its antique wooden doors in 2012, the rustic, hand-me-down French recipes enjoyed by Parisians daily have been a mainstay at this charming shophouse on Tras Street. Timeless dishes prepared by Chef Owner Frederic Colin includes the Potée Auvergnate, a traditional pork hotpot laced with cabbage and garden fresh vegetables and tender meat that simply falls off the bone. Also highly recommended is the Quenelle de poisson sauce Nantua – Grand pere Henri’s fish quenelle of painstakingly hand-grated pike fish fillets is served with a delicious crayfish bisque.

Some of our French favourites are making their way into the working day with our new Business Set Lunch.

Choose from four appetisers and four main courses, including Prawn & Avocado Salad with Grapefruit and Cocktail Sauce, Wild Seabass with Baby Spinach and Cauliflower PurĂ©e, and Butcher’s Cut Steak with Black Pepper Sauce and French Fries.

The set also includes espresso, black coffee or cappuccino, with a caffeine boost to power you through the afternoon.

Some decisions are better made outside the office.

There is a certain sweetness to living the French way, even in Singapore.

It means escaping a sizzling afternoon and hiding in the cool of our brasserie for a much-needed lunch.

Start with a Salade Niçoise, the classic from Nice, with crisp leaves, tomatoes, green capsicum, black olives, anchovies, tuna and hard-boiled egg.

To finish, we recommend the CrĂȘpe Suzette FlambĂ©es: delicate crĂȘpes served with a buttery orange sauce and flambĂ©ed with Grand Marnier for a touch of French theatre.

15 years on, we’ve learnt that making a restaurant feel like your second home is about more than creating a beautiful space.

It’s the recipes passed down, the staff who know your usual order, kicking back at your favourite table, and the new generation finding their own way of making you feel welcome.

A little bit of Paris, a lot of Singapore, and many more years of new memories made around the same tables.

If you’ve ever lingered over dinner at Brasserie Gavroche, you’ve probably noticed the gentleman watching over the room.

This is Henri. He’s owner FrĂ©dĂ©ric Colin’s grandfather.

When FrĂ©dĂ©ric opened Brasserie Gavroche 15 years ago, he wanted Singapore to have the kind of Parisian brasserie he grew up with — where a bowl of onion soup, a plate of escargots and a glass of Beaujolais could turn an ordinary Wednesday into an evening worth savouring.

Today, Brasserie Gavroche remains a place where familiar faces return, conversations stretch a little longer, and new guests come in to soak in the atmosphere of this corner of Paris in Singapore.

And our much-loved French onion soup? It’s one of those dishes that has earned permanent residency on the menu. Taking it off the menu has simply never been a conversation.

Fifteen years on, Henri still watches over a room filled with stories, with each table bringing new moments to this corner of Paris in Singapore.
